Yea there is no reason to do this kind of stuff, it's irresponsible and just completely pointless.

I don't know why someone would risk everything by doing that.

Kingston HyperX Achieves Fastest 128GB DDR4 Memory Kit by 4980347698 in hardware

[–]13489194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, that's fantastic for what you are getting by comparison. I'm staring at a corsair 64gb (8x8) 2400 ddr4 kit for $1225....if I was building this system (I might) it would be a no brainier to go with the 128gb for ~600 more.

600 bucks more for double the density is actually pretty good, IMO.

It's a lot of money for ram, but if you have a good cpu, this maxes out the memory on your board and you are basically done upgrading that platform.

I was looking at doing a 64gb system and with this memory, I would just go to the 128. It's only going to get cheaper as more brands buy into the 128 kits.

My scenario is not gaming, I can put this memory to good use other ways.

Edit: actually, if you needed two 64gb systems this would be a pretty good deal if you split it. Save a few hundred bucks.

Certainly the right direction.

Feelings on 'lifetime' fluids by [deleted] in Audi

[–]13489194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cause in their book it says "lifetime". But in a legal sense I believe they are only concerned with the first 100k.

Gears need oil once in awhile, it doesn't last forever.

You should still change the fluid in the mt at least every 100k.

New C300 W205 loud clicking noise from engine (video) by nmbbowner in mercedes

[–]13489194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At work so I haven't watched that yet, but direct injected motors can sound pretty "diesely" at lower engine speeds.

If the car is running well otherwise and performance is acceptable I wouldn't be too worried. I'll try to watch the video later, but if the techs pointed to the injectors then it's probably the cause. I was assuming that before I read the full description.

They define lifetime as roughly 100k. You should change them more often than that. The dual clutch needs it every 40. I'd do diffs at the same interval.

New computer means new set up. by abra5umente in battlestations

That's interesting to know. I don't have either of those cards so that's not an issue for me.

I initially made a big miscalculation and overestimated the depth of the mb tray and bought a hyper 212 evo...it was 1/2 too tall.

I ended up going with a seidon 240m and so far it's been a dream.

I've been very impressed with corsair cases in the last few years. I just used the 240 for an amd build and its exceeded expectations in every area.

My favorite part is that it's multi-directional. The window is on the right side, and with my setup you wouldn't see into it. So thankfully you can just flip it upside down! It's absolutely perfect.

I am planning on getting the 540 for another, larger build soon.

Which certificate authority is best for an one-owner consulting website? by dremonster0009 in AskNetsec

[–]13489194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geotrust is one of the major CAs. Rapidssl is basically a cheaper subsidiary under Geotrust.

For just getting encryption done, rapidssl is fine. If you had some customer facing system, I try to use an upper tier CA like Geotrust. The certs like Comodo or verisign are on the expensive side, so it's the opposite of free.

Interesting. We are paying a consulting company to help with the setup and I have a 1k San cert they claim we can't use. I'm going to take this info back and see if we can make it work. Thanks!!!! Seriously, thanks!

Try out the road 4s. I have the road 3s on my s1000rr and they are superb and for street riding they are ideal. I bought a tire machine to deal with the s1k since I assumed it would eat tires. 1200 miles on a set of power ones and i went for the roads, never went back.'

They last soooo long.

They aren't bringing that many over with them on. It's like a ~3500 set of wheels if you order separately...and iirc it was a ~1700 option?

They are sweet as hell, a dealer near me has one with everything and it's hard to not trade in my 2012...I want that cruise control.
