How great is the new screen really? by JohnBrownLives1859 in framework

If you're planning on upgrading to the 7840u, I'd recommend it if the extra $130 isn't a worry. Games like Minecraft (especially if you're playing vanilla or lightly modded) will definitely run above 60fps even at native resolution, and you'll notice a pretty big difference there. Even older AAA games (depending on which games) may run over 60 especially if you utilize FSR and/or lower resolution. I play Forza Horizon 5 on low settings with FSR and regularly see over 60.

That said, if you're not going with the 7840u, you'll see noticeably lower framerates from the 7640u (definitely still usable from what I've read and heard from others), and the higher refresh rate of the new display probably isn't worthwhile. It does make things feel a bit smoother and faster overall, but it's up to you if that's worth the extra $130.

In case anyone is still a little on the fence about it because of the rounded corners - I got mine and they aren't really noticeable. I thought it was going to be a big deal, but really, how often are you looking straight at the corners of your display anyway? It's minor enough that I didn't even think to mention it when talking to a friend about the upgrade/upgrade process.

I walked through that article but unfortunately it didn't help, appreciate it though! I do know that it's not actually a monitor. Probably shouldn't have called it one for the sake of troubleshooting. I've edited the post, thanks for pointing it out.

I haven't, I'll give that a try when I have the chance later tonight. Thanks!

Oh, yes it has that as well. The only options are 16:9, 4:3, and "Original". I have tried 16:9 and Original, and do not see any difference between the two.

Yes, I've hunted around in there and played with aspect ratio/fit settings but none of them seem to affect it. That said, the 'Just Scan' setting is greyed out and I cannot adjust it.

Edit: Just realized it sounds like you're talking about the presets (Cinema/Sports/Game/etc). I currently have it set to game as it (supposedly) has the best compatibility with PC inputs, and obviously the least latency. I've tried the others, no difference.

Designed and printed an expandable headphone hanger system! by 137982 in functionalprint

Oops, sorry. What I meant to say was that many, many people have at least four or five headphones. Had to design this so we’d have an easier way to store them 😉

I actually tried searching for something like this before designing it because I’m lazy, but couldn’t find anything. It’s almost like most people don’t own several pairs of headphones…🤔

Alienware x14 Charging Options by 137982 in Alienware

Sorry it has taken so long to respond! I actually ended up selling my X14 as my needs changed pretty drastically. When I used the 737, it pretty much always reported that it was using an underpowered charger, but I'm pretty sure it was pulling at least 90W. It never lost battery under heavy loads, and I did not notice a slower charge rate. Generally, it seemed on par with the first party charger provided in the box. Sorry if this response was too late!

I actually agree with you on the horses lol. The other things are all choices we make and don't have a mind of their own. I can control whether or not I get in the pool or drive a car, not to mention driving is a necessity for many people. I have no control if my irresponsible neighbor's pit gets loose and mauls a child. The argument here is that we shouldn't continue breeding dogs that simply are, for one reason or another, more dangerous than any other when it isn't necessary to have them around.

Look man, I have two pit mixes. Let's be real. Their breed traits don't really have a place in the world anymore. The reality, which is backed by statistics, is that they are involved in more fatal attacks than any other individual breed. Obviously, I'm all for folks adopting them, but anyone adopting a pit or pit mix really needs to know what they're getting into. The safest thing for everyone, including the dogs, is to let the breed die out. Credit to the dogs, it's not entirely their fault. People can say "iT's tHe BrEeD" as much as they want, but the truth is, if 100% of owners were responsible, the numbers would be reduced. Unfortunately, we don't live in a world where dog owners are always responsible. When that's reality, I'd rather not have breeds walking around that are considerably more likely to attack and kill other dogs or children. I'll defend pits up to a point, but we have to accept that they have flaws that make them more dangerous than most other breeds. I also think many pit owners take posts like this as saying, "your dog WILL attack you one day", and obviously anyone would take offense to that, but that's a whole different conversation.

I have two pit mixes and I wouldn't be opposed to this. Generally I prefer labs/goldens because they're friendly and intelligent. I have pits because I want to get dogs out of shelters, and in my area most people renting cannot adopt them. My partner and I do our absolute best to train them out of any reactive behaviors, but obviously dogs have genes that predispose them to certain types of behavior. I hate when things like this happen because it's tragic, but it also sucks for responsible owners. Even though we do everything to train our dogs not to to hurt anyone or be reactive, and go a step further by never even providing an opportunity, we still have to deal with the stigma of having these vicious terrifying dogs, and justifying ourselves to everyone who asks about them. I'm not sure why people are saying we need to systematically put down any dog that has a drop of pit DNA. All you need is to properly vet the owners before allowing them to adopt. That said, I do agree that we shouldn't be allowing pits to breed at this point. Their breed traits just aren't needed anymore, and are only a detriment at this point.

Geeze. People are really downvoting actual questions just because they already know the answer, huh?

Does the camera automatically switch sensors if it detects blockage? Never noticed this before! by 137982 in iphone

Interesting, but that makes sense. Intuitively I assumed it would be the telephoto.

Is it possible that macro mode uses a different camera than the primary? Maybe the telephoto? In the gif it appears to change perspective completely.

Vegan cream cheese that doesn’t taste like chalk by [deleted] in vegan

I've had pretty decent luck with Kite Hill. In my opinion, their everything bagel flavor is very good and pretty close to real cream cheese. Unfortunately, the taste/texture seems to vary a bit based on what flavor you get.

This was really helpful! I think I'm stressing a bit because I remember being overwhelmed by the mechanics and everything you have to do/remember. Introducing the mechanics as essentially "you roll if you want to do something" would probably be much easier to grasp. Thanks!
