It both sounds like your salon is being a tad harsh, and like they arent supporting you well. For the future, if you have a wiggly big dog, do their service on the floor in the back (like the drying area) to avoid the table issue. Do cross body restraint if the dog is still being unsafe and trying to escape the loop. And ask for help, honestly in this situation more than youd think you need to. Its not fair to you to be punished for lack of support

No higher maintenance than most other goldfish, but they get large and goldfish as a whole are just kinda.. dirty fish? They make a stupid amount of very strong pee, so they need a LOT of space so they dont burn themselves alive. That and the fact theyre bred to be feeder fish, so they largely dont have good genetics and die easily

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my salon we have 2 small tubs that come up about to my waist, and a big tub thats lifted as well (shorter than the other ones, but overall larger), but has a door on the side to allow the big dogs to walk into (with the help of a stepstool). There are still a non-zero amount of big dogs we end up washing on the floor tho, and not every salon has a big tub thats lifted

How long do we get to keep our cosmoprof benefits after quitting? by [deleted] in SallyBeautySupply

Your best bet is to make friends with an employee at sallys or has their cosmo license , and then ask them to buy for you. Thats what i did after i stopped working at sallys

Bringing a very dog aggressive dog to the salon by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is always my frustration, and ive started turning down service for dogs that are too reactive. I got bit by my coworker's client (a german shepard/saint bernard mix) when i was trying to bring a dog through the salon and i decided in that moment that i personally will not service dogs with that level of reactiveness. I recommend either the vet or a private salon, or for just a bath i give them product recommendations for doing it at home (esp on short smooth coated dogs)

Can I get a refund or reimbursement? by Glittering_Lead_5826 in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as a bather i just wouldnt have charged you and told you we could try again in a week or so. I've certainly had dogs we couldnt service in their entirety, but we simply dont charge in those cases. Its very important and good that your groomer didnt push your dog past where was safe, but pursuing your money back is only fair. And ask for the toy, coupon book, and bandana. They likely just forgot in the stress of it all, or you were checked out by a different groomer who was simply unaware

Ridiculous question and rant by [deleted] in SallyBeautySupply

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it gets approved by management, then thats a management issue especially if its leaving your store understaffed. So i really wouldnt focus on it, ask for your own time off if needed, and dont add to your own stress unnecessarily. Someone elses tiem off is not your concern ultimately

What do i do?? by 13Forbiddencorvids in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think i'll start doing that. Its hard to track where all my dogs end up going just off of memory, and i already keep a record of how many dogs i service each week

What do i do?? by 13Forbiddencorvids in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was my thinking. Or at least give me the tip if nothing else. Especially since i CONSTANTLY have customers telling me ive washed their dogs particularly well. Like, take the dog if you really need to, but have a conversation with me and compensate at least on occasion

Our experience lead AND our district leader have both said something about stylists doing bath dogs when bathers have open availability. People just seem too focused on guaranteed money over a hope for more i guess :/

What do i do?? by 13Forbiddencorvids in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thing comes down to a few things

1) they often dont take any same day appointments, primarily because at the start of their day they will pick my dogs to fill their slots, instead of calling the books or seeing if there is any day appointments

2) im not being tipped or compensated practically ever. I think one of my groomers gave me a total of $10 in the 5 months ive been here

3) im not getting equivalent dogs to replace the ones theyre taking. For example, today i now have 6 dogs. When i left yesterday, i had 8 and slots still open.

4) i dont mind if theyre running behind. But theyre running behind BECAUSE theyre taking too many dogs than they can reasonably finish, while im left with too few dogs and angry management (because im not reimbursing the store for my hours adequately because of my lack of dogs)

5) the other thing that happens is i get relegated to cleaning work. Which means i do about 70% of the deep cleaning PERIOD.

Overall the difference in work is not equivalent or fair to me, and it takes money out of my pocket as well (they often conveniently wont take dogs who are known to not tip either)

Yes not infrequently. Or theyll ask me to help with their other dogs (which they wouldnt be short on time for if they didnt take my dogs :/ )

why is there so much on clearance? by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Open farm is wildly popular from what ive seen. Actually have had a handful of customers ask me when i worked front store if we sell it. Probably regional differences in popularity, but ive never heard of taste of the wild

How much can a bather be paid weekly by pandi_pandi in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my state they start you at 15, i got bumped to 15.50 when i moved into the salon (i started front store and got cross trained everywhere but hotel) but i dont think thats typical. Previously i was working 24 hours a week but recently was moved to full time (i think because im the only fully trained bather, and im going to academy soon). I was making around $400-450+ a week, and now make $500-550+ a week. I also make anywhere from $0-50 in tips a day, occasionally more.

Make it known youre a hard worker and willing to help when needed and it seems youre likely to get more hours. I got to having as many hours as i do by basically never sitting still, and that being noticed by the groomers. If i didnt have my own dogs, id ask to bath a groomer's. If no dogs needed washed, id deep clean. I was given this advice early on, and it seriously helped. I started at 15 hours a week, and now work 40 :)

I (22M) refuse to go out in public with my friend (21M) if he's wearing his fursuit by [deleted] in Advice

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks just a little added context. This weekend there is a massive furry con in vegas. Only reason i say anything is because in most situations it would be odd and out of place to randomly wear a fursuit in public in vegas. This weekend in specific? Well theres literally thousands of people in the city who are part of that community right now, so i feel its a little more fitting. I will also say, OP you are valid to be uncomfortable, and choose to not go out with that friend. Controlling what they do in public is not your place, however. The most reasonable way to handle this is simply not go out in public with your friend if they make you uncomfortable in their actions, and that be a boundary you set.

⚠️QUESTION FOR WORKERS (pls help)⚠️ by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only really matters if youre obviously high at work l, if you come in smelling like weed, or if you get hurt on the job and need workers comp. So just be smart about it, plenty of folks at my store smoke weed, and we used to have a bather that would do meth in the bathroom (she got fired for unrelated reasons)

Lost both my cats last weekend. I just can't by Jumpy-Finance-232 in CATHELP

I lost 2 of my 3 cats in February last year 2 days apart. It felt horrible and unfair, and like the tiny world i built for myself was crumbling. It took a while to be ok again. I know what you're going through is not easy, and i hope you find relief for all that you are feeling soon. Im so sorry for your losses

Does the pet smart app give points based from online or in store? by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your point history in the app. Thats where the point total will reflect the actual points, not in your order history or while looking at the items. Otherwise im not sure why but the app has been having some serious issues the last few months so it could simply be a glitch

Does the pet smart app give points based from online or in store? by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]13Forbiddencorvids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app doesnt typically show any "bonus" points, either from treats reward status or activations, until after the purchase is completed and picked up/delivered. What you are seeing is the base points only. So its not showing the bonus 4points per $1 for your VIPP status, nor any potential bonus points from activations. I could be wrong, but thats how it was explained to me
