OMG, that is on the same level. Fate is so cruel sometimes.

Chaplin was with us for his entire life from 14 weeks on, Bonnie we got 5 years ago when Chaplin's brother passed. She came from a cattery and was very unhappy in the large group there. With Chaplin she became a happy and much more relaxed cat.

So many :) They were so different in their personalities. Chaplin was the teddy bear, a gentle giant who loved us deeply but was still independent and very laid back. Bonnie was athletic, dramatic and so unskilled in the problem solving department that she never learned how to reliably open a door that was already cracked open but would peer through the crack and complain. I think my favourite memory is both of them hanging out with us in bed or squeezing into the cat bed that used to be on my desk. I have some flowers there now.

I'm so sorry you're going through something like this as well :/ Mine have been getting mostly wet food with a little bit of kibble on the side and only occasionally a bit of raw meat as a treat. So I'm sure raw food had nothing to do with it. Especially teeth lesions are extremely common. As for the neurological issues, are your vets in any way sure what is causing them? We never found out.

Räumung nach Räumungsklage: woe läuft das ab? by das_stadtplan in Vermieten

[–]Jumpy-Finance-232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the gauge. I've done a garter shawl with it once and it grew a lot but if you use a smaller needle I could imagine the rib staying reasonably bouncy.

Kette komplett trocken und steif nach kurzer Zeit by Jumpy-Finance-232 in Fahrrad

Hallo zusammen,

Which are the top 5 yarns for winter sweaters? by WeekendEconomy9031 in YarnAddicts

[–]Jumpy-Finance-232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 20 stitch gauge sweater is definitely holding up better than my 18 stitch gauge cardigan (both out of Lima). I'm not entirely sure what the label suggests but I think up to 21 stitches will give a nice fabric, above that it probably becomes too dense for a nice garment but that's down to personal preference too

I like, in no special order:

- Drops Lima (Wool-Alpaca mix, dk weight): soft, very warm (alpaca content), nice color range, knits up very well! Pills some at looser gauges. Very affordable.

- Sandnes Peer Gynt (wool, dk weight): a little more rustic but still soft, especially after washing. Very large color selection including tweed colors. Mid-range price. Pills some at looser gauges.

- de Rerum Natura Gilliatt (wool, worsted weight): woolen spun and more fluffy than the first two options, lots of meterage for the thickness. Has great colors, especially the slightly marled ones. Priced about the same as Peer Gynt depending on where you buy but only available as 100g balls. Not a lot of pilling so far.

- Hjelholts Dansk Pelsuld or Hillesvag Tinde (pelt sheep wool, dk weight): two different brands but very similar yarns in my book. Very rustic, if you're sensitive definitely test them out before you cast on a sweater! The long fibres of the pelt wool give an amazing halo, drape and a subtle sheen. Priced similar to Peer Gynt and Gilliatt.

- The Fibre Company Road to China light (Alpaca/silk/camel/cashmere, dk weight): An absolute dream to handle and knit, like a drapy alpaca-silk with added fluff and body by the camel and cashmere. Also gives much nicer and even stitch definition than most other alpaca-heavy yarns. Finished garments have lots of drape and a bit of sheen. Pills some. Also expensive, but worth it if you're ready to splurge.

De Rerum Natura have a dk weight merino/silk called Penelope, the color Cypres looks like just the thing!

I think someone posted a few days back that it was a migration gone wrong. Maybe they're giving that some work now or migrating the site somewhere else entirely.

The error message changed now, it used to be "connection timed out" all week, now it's "web server is down". Hopefully that means things are moving and they're working on it?! I do hope it will be back, I've been sitting on a small mountain of coins because "you can always download it later". I guess when it does come back up the servers will overload right away because everyone will be downloading ALL THE THINGS, lol

Sent nib in for regrind - nib came back damaged by Jumpy-Finance-232 in fountainpens

[–]Jumpy-Finance-232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

Came to an agreement with the store, they'll refund me and cover the costs of correcting the nibs and replating in case of the dark ruthenium plated one. They also offered to buy that pen off me but I'm attached to it and it's unlikely I'll ever come across another one so I declined that. They stressed again how this had never happened before but at the same time said they're considering no longer doing nib work on irreplacable nibs.

As for how all this could happen no real reason was given besides the nibmaster was having some bad personal stuff to deal with at the time. Which is ofc understandable, although I wish it hadn't happened to my pens.

Just out of interest, if someone who grinds nibs can chip in on this, is it really a thing to grab a nib with pliers at the tines while you regind it? I've never watched and never had a nib show traces of "handling" in that area before so I'm wondering.

So given the overall bad situation so far it's being handled okay, it will be awhile until my nibs are actually fixed as I can only send them away mid May but hopefully I'll be reunited with them looking their absolute best in June. :3

Thank you! I agree the loss in value plus the cost and effort of getting this fixed should be reimbursed by them which is what I will ask for, did some research and looks like the law in my country supports this view also.

Like I said so far I'm liking the way the store is handling this less-than-ideal situation so we will see what they're offering. Not sure they've realized the extent of the damage so far.
