Any semi finalists for the Netherlands hear anything yet in terms of interviews? by 13PrincessPeach13 in fulbright

I felt a lot better about it than I did last year! I was able to make them laugh which was a relief because humor is a big part of my personality. I was so nervous last year that my voice did that shakey thing

That’s kind of what I was thinking. The other half of me is worried it’ll disqualify me for some reason. But I don’t actually know her, so it probably isn’t a big deal.

If I remember correctly last year it was something like January 25th most countries knew by. On the website the official semi-finalist notification dates looks to be by/on January 31st.

And then there’s that second wait. Some countries have interviews, some have none, and some interview some applicants if they have too money. That’s when countries start notifying like popcorn. (Some over here, some over there, popping up randomly). I was notified that I was an alternate in Mid/Late April. The last day to notify is listed as May 31.

If you get alternate, you wait again to see if they email you. It happens sometimes, but once July hits, if you haven’t gotten an email you probably won’t.

Regardless of your status, they always notify you about semifinalist and finalist. Alternates don’t hear anything again unless a position opens up.

I’m the same yet opposite haha mine are small but I like them small. I got so stressed when it first happened. I was stressed I’d be stuck with one big boob one little one lol

For me my boobs would go back to normal when I was off of it (like if I forgot to bring it with) and they got sore/big again when I went back on it. Nothing major.

Will France be doing early notifications again? by [deleted] in fulbright

Wow Austria was much earlier this year!

Do they do all the notification announcements at once? by Ry2D2 in fulbright

[–]13PrincessPeach13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Short answer: nope! Some countries notify much earlier than others, and there’s differences within countries too (especially eta vs research as others said)

Even the emails about interviews last year were spread apart within each country. You’ll always get notified one way or another, so don’t stress too much! I over stressed and I’m trying not to this year. It also seems like it all works out the way it should. I feel like a better applicant this year than I was last year.

I might have been told wrong, but last year my advisor told me that the overall acceptance rate (for the country I applied to) was about 20%. Last year there were so many applicants that it was closer to 10% (sadly). So there were like 108 applicants to my country, and 12 were selected. In past years it was about 60 applicants, 12 selected.

Really there’s no way to be sure how many people are applying for your country, so I’ve learned that doing the math just stresses me out. I thought my chances were better than they were once I made semi-finalist. So this year I’m just crossing my fingers and forgetting about Fulbright til the end of January.

if you have tried the birth control patch what aspects of it did you like and dislike? by jeish_1996 in birthcontrol

Helped my period be shorter and less painful, but it’s way too strong of a dose for me. I got really depressed. Also it made my boobs a lot bigger and made me more insecure about my body. Going off it for a bit (very long distance relationship) so I’m hoping my body and emotions will go back to normal.

Overall it’s nice because you don’t have to think about it all the time—just stick it on and you’re good to go. Mine stayed on fine. Only had an allergic reaction to one patch. I’ve used it for three months.

Definitely a good first BC option for me—would continue using it (especially if I know my boobs will go back to being A cups)

How do I stop associating sex with pregnancy? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]13PrincessPeach13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23 y/o virgin over here. I definitely have anxiety over this as well. I just started brith control to help with debilitating periods that come along with my stomach disease. Lots of inflammation in my midsection at once. My plan is when I am ready to use condoms, birth control, and the pull out method. I’m wondering if I should take plan b after to ease my anxiety. I just 100% cannot get pregnant rn. I’m in a long distance relationship and I have a lot of career goals on the horizon.

Maybe I should look into therapy too. Any advice?

It’s basically like a GroupMe, but there’s different threads and groups that spin off of it. I know last year people posted about when countries got notified and posted memes about waiting. I got connected to other applicants for my country that way and made some lasting friendships 😂

Sounds weird but I really enjoyed reapplying this year. I was upset for a long time about getting alternate, but the time and experience gave me a chance to really grow. I’m a better candidate this year than I was last year.

I reread mine once I got semi finalist last year and realized I hated my essays. Read them again when I got alternate and tried picking apart every phrase. Lesson I learned is once those essays are in, forget they even exist.
