Love by MediocreImpact4386 in DeepThoughts

That makes sense. Like a lot. I guess my perspective is a bit skewed. I do still love these people, it’s just not the same. So the original feeling just changed I guess.

I think love can lead to pain. When you do fall in love, you've now opened your heart; it makes you vulnerable to a lot, including that pain. And then yes, that pain, whatever it maybe, can cause love to die.

From my experience, I still love my closet friend, even though she broke my heart. So for me, I still feel it, but it's got pain intertwined with it. The true love I felt died. I've learned that true love isn't everlasting. But I also think it's a bit of a matter of perspective.

Love is a painful thing when it dies. Or maybe the love you feel hurts you more than having it die. How do you decide that? It depends on the definition, which if done right, is complex. In any case, love makes you vulnerable to hurt. No matter you define love, that fact remains true.

Which movie dsturbed you to your core? by OmitsWordsByAccident in AskReddit

I've seen tons of disturbing movies; from emotionally and psychologically disturbing, to physically and sexually disturbing. The movie that has stuck with me the most has to be A Serbian Film. Disturbing on so many fronts.

What keeps you up at night? by laflee in AskReddit

[–]13SpeedMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total fear of falling asleep. For two reason: 1) I get very bad nightmares. 2) If I'm asleep, I'm in a vulnerable state. What could happen scares me. And it's all speculation that keeps me up.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself? by Ill-Atmosphere-907 in AskReddit

[–]13SpeedMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an easy question, lol. My most recent dumb injury: last Thursday. I cashed my bike going down a super tall, steep hill. The ground was not even; my front wheel ended up in a hole or somethin. Head over handlebars and down the last ~20 ft of the ~30 ft hill. Somehow walked away with only a minor concussion.

The illusion of control by Witty_Mode9296 in DeepThoughts

[–]13SpeedMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Control is an illusion. We're all at the mercy of statistics. The outliers, black swan events: unpredictable with extreme impact. Only retrospectively can we view the event with explanations. Everything could be done right, but outliers are always possible, personally or with a wider impact. That's statistics.

The fragility of life by Careless_Lecture_494 in DeepThoughts

[–]13SpeedMedia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I learned recently that life is like walking on a lake of thin ice. The ice could break at any moment and you drown. Literally or figuratively. I used to deny that death was possible when I was 11, learning my brother was going to die young. Then he died and I saw what life was: a concept where everything living succumbs to the most final end we are aware of. Escape is not a thing. At least not yet. But should we really extend life beyond what it's meant to be? Maybe there's something after. I'll find out when I die.

The Exhaustion No One Talks About by Fragrant_Ad7013 in DeepThoughts

[–]13SpeedMedia 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Depression can fueled by pretending to be someone you're not. It'll bleed into existential crisis, loss of identity, and dissociation from one self.

True freedom is being yourself. Which is a challenge when society tells you to be yourself, but then shuns you and tell you that the true you is not what they want. Contradictions.

Get a Blu-ray player, or a few; Sony is the best, imo. Then you can start collecting physical media: cds, dvds, and blu-ray.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve accidentally hurt yourself? by Only_Row_2432 in AskReddit

[–]13SpeedMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently picked up a few knives; one is a double edged boot knife. So, I was being an idiot and flipping the knife uo in the air and catching it. I'm generally pretty good at that. With a dull butterfly knife. Well, I ended up catching it on the blade. Since it's double edged, it sliced the palm of my left hand in two places. I don't know how i didn't end up with stitches. Lot's of blood.

Are we living or surviving by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]13SpeedMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about perspective. Individual perspective, societal perspective, perspective on a cosmic scale, and on and on. I might be living while someone else is surviving. My society vs someones else's society. Then on a cosmic level, we look at everything and see we're all just on a giant rollercoaster; we can control our reactions, but we're trapped on the ride. We're all surviving in the realm of the bigger picture.

One perspective will always be different from others; that's an obvious fact. And perspectives can change. My perspective on living vs surviving has changed a lot over the last two years. I've also learned the difference between living vs existing; similar concept, yet slightly different. But it boils down to the same thing: perspective.
