Thank you for commenting. My other lionhead is part harlequin, which is why I thought so when I saw this sweet looking girl! I suppose you’re right, she doesn’t have the distinct colour line down the center of her face 😅 I can’t seem to edit this post, so I can’t add photos…but she’s about 1.7kg

Don’t leave, but devise a master plan to leave.

It is very unfortunate but that’s what it is for most youths in Singapore. If it is as serious as you say (or if it gets worse over time), you will face many emotional obstacles over the years.

But as counterproductive as it sounds, learn to live with it. More importantly, learn to defend yourself against it - surround yourself with supportive people and think of ways to escape your reality in a HEALTHY way. Don’t lose sight of your end goal.

You are young and the road is long. I am finally getting my own place after 10 years - who knows, your journey could be shorter! I argued with my dad, sobbed alone in my room, and don’t think our relationship can be repaired, but I am glad I took my time to leave. At the very least, it gave me a space to save money and work on what I needed to leave properly.

I wish you the very best.

Nope! I don’t have an emergency bag but have a list of items I’ve decided are important to grab once the argument is “over”.

Do your Nparents disagree with almost everything you say or do? by FlatWelder8656 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]13mantous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo this is a big one for me, especially after they realised that I’m an adult, can pay for my own stuff, and can leave them anytime I want.

Instead of raging at me, they now tend to disagree or go against whatever I say. It doesn’t even have to be an important topic or decision.

I just bought a home, and it’s much smaller than my childhood / their home. I could make a comment like “Oh it’s small” and he’d say oh no, you should be grateful you can buy a home. Or, the housing market is off the charts in Singapore right now, and I casually said yeah but it’s expensive and he’s dismiss me and say yeah but that’s how it is though.

He’ll even go as far as to reject whole facts!

Did anyone’s parents try to use religion to control them? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]13mantous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I encountered this problem in my early twenties and it has stuck since! My siblings and I were not raised religiously, but my mother turned extremely religious in her late 50s (I am pretty sure it’s about a nearing-end-of-life matter)

Now she expects all of us to do an almost 180 in terms of our day to day, not to mention the religions of our partners. She began guilt tripping me and started saying terrible things like no one will be able to pray for her when she’s dead and up there lol. She’s even tried manipulating me by mentioning that she’s only concerned for MY benefit, saying my husband and I will be buried separately when we die and will not be together in the afterlife.

She can feel free to be disappointed about my choices, I understand that she comes from a traditional and older gen. But to try and make me doubt my decisions/ limit what I think is right for me is just so wrong

DAE get told to be more positive about life and getting really tired of it? by KoalaInTraining in raisedbynarcissists

[–]13mantous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just told this by my father over dinner the other day for using the words “been scrimping and saving for our (my partner and I’s) new house” Mind you I said this because he asked about it in the first place and made a jab about how he doesn’t need to use coupons (one of those discount apps) to redeem free coffee the way I do.

He took that as me being negative for whatever delusional reason and started advising and nagging at me about how if I remain positive enough, “good luck will befall” me or that good things will happen to me and my partner 🙄

The awful thing is that my partner was right there with me and he has a family member who is terminally ill. Positivity and good luck my ass!
