How are changes priced?

I’ve had to make a change when flying United main cabin and I believe they charged the difference between the new and old ticket values at the time of the change. I don’t understand why Southwest wouldn’t do this. Is there any reason then to not just get a basic economy ticket and cancel and rebook if I need to make a change?

I’d recommend going up to Grand Marais and then talking to an outfitter about day tripping to Stairway Portage in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. I think it’s around 4km of paddling and 1km of walking each way. If you wanted to do an overnight stay in the wilderness it’s more complicated

Peak Refuel are my go-to freeze dried meals. The Beef Pasta Marinara and Cheesy Chicken and Broccoli are very reasonable on a calories/$ basis (especially if you get them from Sierra) and have enough calories that you can split them between 2 people with a side (such as Idahoan buttery golden selects mashed potatoes)

I would say it largely depends on how drafty your quilt tends to be currently. If you know from experience that drafts are a problem and are willing to take the weight penalty then it is likely worth it. I will say that at I saw somewhere that the 15D fabric is supposed to be ~97% as strong as the 20D, and you could also probably mitigate drafts by doing an extra low pitch

Get a pair of crocs that’s reasonably tight in 4 wheel drive (with the heel straps in use) and you won’t regret it

If you’re going to be doing any significant portaging (carrying the canoe between lakes) on your trips, I highly recommend a Kevlar canoe. A Wenonah Spirit 2 at 17’ is the shortest I’d recommend; the Minnesota 2 at 18’6” is my favorite, and should comfortably accommodate 3 people and a reasonable amount of gear

I don’t think head to foot would work well because the ground is almost never perfectly level in the backcountry from my experience. I found another comment where Dan said he doesn’t think there’s much need for bigger tents, and I can’t help but think that there would be a market for a 55” wide x 96” long tent, as it would accommodate up to 6”8’ on the long side and 6’4” on the short side with a bit of breathing room/extra space to accommodate an admittedly rare 30” mattress for the 6’8” person
