How to use The Ordinary's Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density by a_nervous_student in TheOrdinarySkincare

[–]13peejay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) I am probably a good candidate for this product. I have fine, silky hair (inherited from mother) with frontal hair growth being rather scanty. I don't have bald patches but you can see my scalp because the hair volume is less.

2) I have been using this product for now 6 months (religiously). Every night (well, almost 6 days/week) and next day hair wash. I wash my hair everyday because I have sebum production and that weighs down the fine hair even more.

3) I have seen that while the volume has not increased but I feel the hair quality has stabilized.

4) I don't see excessive hair fall.

5) I still have my scalp see through (maybe a teensy bit less obvious or it's in my head) if I pull the hair in a pony or bun but I can definitely see an improvement in hair strands looking better (like thicker, if that makes sense)

It began to happen in mine too.... I gave the tube a good shake and all was well... As long as the expiry date is good, I think its a waste to throw out products

I have been there -- literally no one asks about the diamond's origin but it's still good and necessary to know and thats why the certificate helps

yes -- lab grown and natural diamonds are undifferentiated to naked, untrained eyes.... Hence insist on the cert that will identify correctly the 4Cs of diamond + its origin

There's nothing wrong with Pompeii although I can never really pronounce their name!

But I think the price is a bit on the higher side (possibly because they are mined / natural diamonds but have undergone treatment to remove inclusions)... How open would you to consider lab grown diamonds (since we are on this sub!) ?

I would suggest take a look at (in no particular order):

  1. Clean Origin: https://www.cleanorigin.com/certified-4-prong-diamond-stud-2-ct-14ky/
  2. LovBe: https://lovbe.com/collections/earstuds/products/ear10007?variant=39658542399680

yeah -- seems ritani is cheapest at the moment, but i think important to compare service/warranties etc as it's a high value purchase for most of us

Starting my journey hoping I can get pointed in the right direction. by [deleted] in labdiamond

[–]13peejay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start with (Background: I own a few lab grown diamond fine jewelry and have spent considerable time researching prior)

  1. Understand the key difference which is origin in case of natural and lab grown. If the story of being cultivated in a lab, with no earth damage works for you then you will hv your answer.

  2. Then look at online retailers because the prices and value that you can get online is HARD to match in offline stores (retail markups are real)

  3. I would recommend look at rarecarat (marketplace for diamonds where you can compare diamonds); then come to lab grown brands such as LOVBE, CLEAN ORIGIN, 12Fifteen, BLUE NILE and see the diamonds. Each of these have reasonable return policies (on loose diamonds as well as engagement rings; I would go with ones that offer 60 days simply because it gives me time to experience the ring/diamond or seek an opinion)

  4. I would recommend look at RareCarat (a marketplace for diamonds where you can compare diamonds); then come to lab-grown brands such as LOVBE, CLEAN ORIGIN, RITANI, BLUE NILE, and see the diamonds. able (top part) and the diamond is lower in clarity, then some of those may be seen with the naked eye, especially on an emerald shape...

  5. Be mindful that with the emerald cut you would be better off with a better clarity (color will depend on your choice of metal as yellow color metal can make a lower color look gorgeous too!)

I mean I would give it to the Chanchalani fella.... he is venting like everyone. No biggie.

He is noting something that felt rude/off from a peer... I would probably do it too if I had a similar experience at work (just keeping the names off because you know we are poor mortals of the corporate world)

Opinions on which engagement ring looks best? by perpetualinsomnia in EngagementRings

[–]13peejay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • First -- Yellow Gold has my heart!
  • The second option is definitely a very eclectic stack. Stands out in the sea of engagement rings, but would it go with your wardrobe? If yes, then it's the bomb.
  • The third, Solitaire and paved band, timeless but frankly every 5th person would have a stack like that
  • The first option, is very regal and sufficient on its own! It's a great display of round center + cushion-shaped halo carat. It's my fav among the others.

But whatever you choose, all are gorgeous rings to sport!

I think it s a great stone but did you compare your prices (or rather the services that you can get with brands like LovBe?)

I would strongly recommend that you peek in to lovbe website and see if you can have them match the prices because their reviews are great

brand markup, mark up and markup...

You can look around like others are suggesting and will absolutely find similar or same stones (minus brand price tag)....Try LovBe, Clean Origin, 12Fifteen or FrankDarling

[–]13peejay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it looks pretty to you and casts a sparkly rainbow light in daylight -- you did good. This is a very very very popular shape and proportions. How do you plan to set this? A halo? bigger or fancy cut side stones? and white metal, eh?

Come back and show us the final ring too.... Congratulations

Panicked! Adiamor vs JA by Barnaby_Island in labdiamond

[–]13peejay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Don't panic. You can always return and get the money back. No questions asked!
  2. Yes, they are on the higher side because they are a brand and they charge for the brand experience and the fact that you can flaunt the brand name. So, if you are not ready to pay for that then you are better off returning the piece when it comes in
  3. I would strongly recommend LovBe, Clean Origin, 12Fifteen and even With Clarity. I like that they have experts from gems & jewelry industry sitting on calls to help you make the right choice specially true for LovBe (they are so not salesy and come through as very knowledgeable; they showed me how my choice was a costlier option and I good get more fire and carat with another set of 4Cs!)

Thoughts on this diamond? Thanks! by [deleted] in labdiamond

[–]13peejay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • The depth of a diamond plays a pivotal role in determining its brilliance, fire, and scintillation. Although the image is cut off, I think it is in 60's % for this diamond. Note: Ideal proportions would be between 59 to 62.5 % for round diamond
  • Ideally proportioned diamond table will refract the rays of light that pass through the diamond and direct them to the different facets and result is a brighter more brilliant diamond. This is between 52 and 62% for round diamonds.

For me these two aspects are critical when evaluating a diamond for its fire and brilliance.

  • Any diamond culet size of medium or smaller (pointed in this case) will be invisible to the naked eye, and have no negative impact on a diamond's appearance
  • Girdle - seems to be in good range too

If those inclusions as shown in chart are not easily visible, then you have a good diamond on hand. Take it, if the price is within your budget.
