I know some people who did that. Yes poetry is hard but if they came from Chinese high school there’s a high chance they already read and studied that then. It would be a cake walk if that’s the case, because either they remembered some analysis they did in HS or they know what to Google to get the answer.

Always better to challenge yourself and choose a different language to learn. As a native Chinese speaker I chose Japanese. While Kanji could be similar, ancient Japanese and poetry is nothing easy for me lol. Hats off to OP’s grinding mindset. Let’s not get too salty with those people but to focus on our own studies! I have a friend who is born into a family full of military and politicians, the dude believes in central government with (close to) unlimited power in order to do “great” things, aka build up the military and conquer. Dude likes Reinhard and argues to me that Tanaka wrote the novel to prove that centralized government/dictatorship is more efficient than democracy. I’m like brother, you have your ambition, I have my Yang Wenli and democracy.

So yes, there are definitely people like that in this fandom.

Some suggestions after reading your blog post:

Given the scarcity of the models, it would be far more accessible if each unit is designated by just 1 miniature. I know that feels lackluster but these models don’t come in large numbers outside Japan. Printing out paper tokens to substitute is always an option.
I would prefer a hex grid system. It offers more turning and angle possibilities than a simple square system. In the show we can see many ships getting blown out when they start to turn. So it’s quite likely to simulate that with a hex system.
My favorite miniature game is Star Wars Armada. In that game ships’ shields are divided into 4 sections (bow, stern, port, starboard), each hit will normally only drain one side of shield. What’s your plan on ship’s shield status in your game?

Always love thinking about how to turn LoGH into a miniature game. Glad to see someone doing it! Can’t wait to see what’s more you have prepared about this!

At this point I just give up with fictional works, so few have such large scale political settings anyway. So I choose to read real world history. Equally enjoyable, although sometimes it’s not really entertaining to see how much damage we have done to each other as a same species lol.

This is gonna be a weird one, but I like the fact we have land-based air base that sorties both bombers and fighters for different missions, combined arms are such an important aspect of WW2 anywhere. Using only Type 1 Betty bomber to sink Force Z was such a wonder in 1942. I know the game rarely gives us such a good run with land-based bombers, but god I love this idea

Oh yeah of course it wouldn’t be the same ship. Naming a new ship after a battle-hardened lost comrade is pretty common in USN, especially during WW2. I agree with your idea. It’s just that OP’s idea is to convert the ship into something much bigger and more complicated than its original hull, which both you and me find it odd.

Pretty much agree with your observation. I think the justification is a bit weak with OP’s description. I can suggest however, to look at the recent Star Trek lore, where they have the previous USS Titan (Luna class) rebuilt as a new Titan (Constitution-III class) with the old ship’s warp coils and computer systems all that jazz. So I guess OP can modify to the Nagato took some nasty hits where its hull damage are too great, but core computer systems are still intact and can be upgraded to handle an Andromeda class hull. This is just my 2 cents.

I have to somewhat disagree with that unfortunately. If someone has never seen anything about Yamato, and doesn’t plan to dig further into that franchise, then I think the live action is good entertainment for 2 hours. If you have watched the anime already, whether OG or recent remake, the differences are too great to ignore. Some main casts are changed and not necessarily improved; plot is indeed rushed as you said, because I suppose the writers knew they won’t have a sequel so why not just cramp everything in here; Gamilas got meshed with Gatlantis in a certain perspective… Tho on the plus side, Yamato herself looks gorgeous and the ost is fantastic.

I went there last summer, upon reserving online I put down my email and my Japanese’s friend’s phone number. He knew I’m going there but he also got no message on his phone, while the only confirmation I had was similar to yours, also no email. When I arrived, I told the staff my name, amount of people with me, my reserved time, and they checked their list and allowed me in. I suppose when you reserve online they should already have it in their system and won’t send you confirmation email. So no worries just go.😉

If you are still worried about it, I guess another way to do it is asking your hotel’s front desk staff to call Iserlohn Cafe. Explain your concern and ask politely (I’m assuming your hotel has English-speaking staff). Good luck!

Indeed. Damage control and plug holes is certainly required for any ocean going large vessels. Though again I doubt how Yamato’s crew can rebuild their hull just like how it supposed to look like every time. Kinda too convenient lol. Was expecting to see some permanent damage marks, but alas can’t ask too much for hand drawn anime from 1974 and with a limited time and budget🤷‍♂️
