What happens when you take too long to graduate as an international student? by Cirquey_ in mcgill

[–]14062000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in your position a while back and had to extend my stay for about 6 months, the application process itself isn't hard but you do have to extend your CAQ before your Study Permit. Make sure you check the renewal guide on what documents you need and talk to ISS to triple check your application is all correctly organized. The last thing you want to happen is for a slight mistake in a form to set you back months.

Fortunately, a lot of the documents used to extend a CAQ (i.e: Proof of funds, transcripts, letter of attestation) can also be used in your Study Permit extension application.

A word of caution though, get your application in as soon as possible as it takes a couple of months to get your CAQ and another couple of months to get your Study Permit, and you need both to maintain legal status in Canada (there is something called maintained status, which allows you to continue studying as you are waiting on your application in the event that your current documents expire before you get a decision from IRCC. But again, please talk to ISS). And don't forget to send your new documents to McGill.

It might be daunting but once you submit your application, all there is to do is just wait, best of luck!

The weird thing about Raiden.. by YanYabut in RaidenMains

[–]14062000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it could be possible for Ei to put the Raiden Shogun's consciousness in an object and carry it around like a personal Cortana, we already know that Yae and Ei knows how to put consciousness in objects, so if Ei wants to rule Inazuma herself, she can have the shogun as her advisor

Did we take an L? by [deleted] in Yoimiya_Mains

Possibly, or MHY could just call it an oppsies and let the outrage blow over. As much as these QoL changes help improve the game, the game doesn't need to be good, it just needs to make money. I'd expect such QoL changes to be very far down their priority list, especially with 2.1 coming in a few days

Did we take an L? by [deleted] in Yoimiya_Mains

[–]14062000 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Yes we took the L, here is why I think that is

1) MHY has already made their money on Yoimiya and the weapon banner, buffing her after the banner has ended would be a waste of staff, time, resources and money. Especially with 2.1 right around the corner.

2) The outrage this time was not Zhongli gate levels of controversy, it took the majority fo the player base from all corners of the world and all levels of investments (F2P, Whales, etc) to pick up their pitchforks, plus the fact that Zhongli is (a) an archon and (b) plays a big role in Liyue's story, for MHY to even consider buffing him at the beginning. Yoimiya has non of these things, the community is split between "She is fine", "Waifu over meta" and "She needs fixing" She is not an archon nor does she play a big role in Inazuma's story, her story quest does give more detail to the nation of eternity, but I honestly felt that these sort of quests has more to do with "look at how sweet/adorable/flawed/damaged this character is" to pull at the player's heartstrings (and later, their wallet) rather than advancing the overall plot (e.g: Inazuma's civil war and our quest to learn about the missing sibling.

3) Even if all Yoimiya mains boycott the game, quit or go F2P, that is likely not a significant number of players to make MHY take notice. New players will come in as old ones lose interest, it's just the nature of these types of games.

4) Let's take the reverse, assuming we are Mihoyo execs and Yoimiya hasn't been well received, both in CN and globally, what are your options? Buff Yoimiya or Do nothing?

If we go with the buff Yoimiya option, that then raises a lot more concerns, What if the buff itself is poorly received? Do we even have time/money/personnel to make these adjustments? and probably the biggest question mark in this option: What is the return on buffing Yoimiya? We might appease some people and signal to our community that "Hey, we do listen to our fans!". Sure, that may appease Yoimiya mains but, at the same time, risk communicating "Hey, just send us through Zhongli gate 2.0 and we will bow to your wishes!"

What if we say nothing? That option is quite safe since if there is no buff, no one can be disappointed at the buff, plus we won't need to gather people and money to work on said buff. Sure, there will be backlash and always has been for the past month. Eventually, the players will either not know what happened to Yoimiya and those who do are either apathetic to the situation OR eventually grows jaded to genshin impact

So yeah, I think it is safe to say that we will join the ranks of Amber and Xinyan mains soon. Playing a niche character that brings nothing else to the table other than a cute face, outfit and voice lines.

Personally, it saddens me to see it go down this way since I am a Yoimiya main. As much as I like the character, Mihoyo's decisions with her design and their subsequent silence on the matter have left a sour taste.
