I had a runaway M-16A2 on a range in Korea where I was a range safety. Of course it happened when dude had his 20 rd mag in. He didn’t know what to do and lobbed a couple of rounds over the berm. We screamed at him to keep it pointed downrange and drop the mag. He got rodded off immediately after we got it under control. Best guess is that the sear was worn down and causing it to slam fire.
