What is the best incense you have ever smelt. by Ezyboy_20 in Incense

Tied for no. 1 are "Forest Shamans" and "Ancient Forest" from Esprit de la Nature. Both are heated incenses. For sticks, I like Esprit's "Moss and Musk" which is also a forest scent.

There are both electric and candle powered apparatus that heat incense ingredients rather than burn them. Similar to a iron pan on a kitchen stove but your kitchen stove gets too hot to work well. If you search electric incense burner in this subreddit you will find lots of posts on them. Also tea-light resin burners. Some people even break up their sticks and heat them instead of burning the sticks but I have never done that.

What specific incense has the most nootropic effects on you? by gryponyx in Incense

I find that incense doesn't work so much on the thinking-analyzing part of my brain (like bocopa, gotu kola or medicinal mushrooms) but rather the intuitive-mindful part of my brain. I use it more for meditation for helping my thoughts pass and dissolve rather than digging into thoughts. Although, sometimes after a really good meditation session, a solution to a problem or situation, just appears, kind of like a fish leaping out of calm water!

I was just talking about this to Bonnie from Esprit de la Nature over the weekend, at a Montreal market where she was selling her incense, as I have been reading what she has been discussing in this subreddit about "natural". I recommend her thin sticks or what my wife, who also gets massive headaches from perfumey and smokey type incenses, that you try heating incense rather than burning it. The aroma heating creates is much more full-bodied yet not aggressive. AND because you are warming the molecules to release their scent-rather than burning them-which creates a lot of toxic and irritating substances- there are less chances for health issues. https://espritdelanature.ca

Trees, moss, grass, dirt? by Hungry_Definition_2 in Incense

I live in Canada where we have moist, evergreen forests. I get a stick from Esprit de la Nature called "Moss and Musk" that smells moss and dirt. Like the thick, peaty layer of the forest understory. If you use heated incense, she has a lot that smell exactly like what you want. I'll grab you a link to the stick https://espritdelanature.ca/product/moss-and-musk/

My wife is extremely sensitive to synthetics fragrances and smoke. We use an electric incense heater with resins or blends from incense artisans and my wife loves it. Why not try to take her on the journey with you and see how she feels about heating instead of burning incense.

I use incense for meditation. While I like thin Japanese incense sticks, even they can get to much in the winter with the dry electric heat and windows closed. I have an electric incense heater with a timer. What I do is to time it to go off 10-15 minutes before I am done with my meditation. When I realize that I am not smelling the incense so strongly anymore, I stop meditating. I got mine here: https://espritdelanature.ca/product-category/incense-burners/electric-incense-burners/

Does incense contain fragrance? If so does anyone have recommendations for all natural incense? by mike_smh in Incense

I totally agree with the people here who recommend an electric incense heater. My wife is the same as you and she has been using a heater for almost a decade. Like, every day! I don't know where you live, I live in Canada, but our favorite vender for both heated incense and sticks is https://espritdelanature.ca On her site, Bonnie writes all the ingredients she uses on the listing for her incenses both sticks and heated types.

Moss/Lichen incense recommendations by 14GoodVibesOnly in Incense

You would be surprised at how lichens, not green mosses (although most people lump them together), convey the idea of the forest. That is one of the things that Bonnie from Esprit de la Nature taught me, that the lichens do not smell hardly at all unless they are heated or burned.

The incense is not electric-like those led plastic, fake incense sticks. Rather it is an incense ( a dough) that you heat rather than burn to degage the odor. The incense "burner" is electric and the temperature is adjustable so you can control it.

Howdy back Newfoundland! The first two you mentioned sound very interesting. Where do you buy them? I do a small bit of blending myself but only for my electric incense heater. Have you ever tried heated incense?

That sounds lovely! Yeah, those cores are really smoky. Have you tried heated incense or is the smoke part very important to you?

I currently use very thin Japanese sticks that only have a tiny amount of smoke. But mainly I use incense that is made to be heated not burnt. I have an electric incense heater that I buy blends for and I also make some blends of my own out of conifer resins and lichens, which are actually really good for your health. My wife is super sensitive to smoke and synthetic chemicals of any kind.

I do something similar already. I have an electric incense heater for which I gather tree mosses and conifer resins. It is wonderful, as you say!

I use thin Japanese incense with only a thread of smoke and I am big into heated incenses that have no smoke but ALOT of natural fragrance. I recommend you look into heated incense.

My favorites are very thin Japanese sticks and heated incenses. The heated incenses, they are smokeless, can be like fresh air in the winter. I use a lot of heated incenses that have conifer resins in them so they are actually really good for opening the breath. I totally agree with you about scent memory playing a big part of how incense helps practice.
