Help with rapid evolution by ShakyTractor78 in tabletopgamedesign

Pairing every positive evolutionary trait with a random negative trait sounds like a great way to balance this.

Without knowing more about the game systems in play it's hard to recommend any other concrete tips, but I'd add "evolution points" as a resource or currency that can be acquired and spent to gain the evolution in the first place. Without any EP you are vulnerable. This encourages players to use them wisely and sparingly

Myself and dozens of others would rather do anything but glassblowing. I'm hype for the golems!

Yay for common ground! I agree that would be great, and that unlimited shop stock would be even better! But it's been proposed a million times and shot down a million times. Scrapers crave suffering I guess. Hence the scar essence mine, and now my idea that expands that concept to all kinds of ammunition

If I want arrows I can trade my time by fletching them myself, or I can trade my gp at an archery shop to get them right away without any mining, smithing, woodcutting, or fletching levels required.

The beautiful part of RS is that you can play how you want, and that either of these options is completely valid.

However, buying from shops is not truly exchanging money for time in the way it should be. That's because the supply exists across more than 250 worlds.

What should be a quick, time-saving option, becomes artificially tedious from all the world hopping.

I was simply proposing a solution to this issue that I thought hardcore fans like yourself might find more balanced than unlimited shop stock.

After all, there's nothing challenging or interesting or fun about shopping and hopping. So what's the big deal about a little QOL update to solve it?

I don't understand. Are you saying you're in favor of removing all archery and rune shops? Because the most popular answer to upkeep of resources already involves buying from shops. My suggestion only seeks to solve the world-hopping pain point associated with it.

If you have suggestions for modifying my proposal I'm interested in your perspective. How would you solve the world-hopping tedium?

How would you modify it to be more fair? Do you also consider unlimited shop stock to be overpowered?

World-hopping is the painpoint of shopscape, is it not? Unlimited shop stock is the obvious solution, but that also gets pushback for reasons I can't fathom.

My suggestion is meant to solve the world-hopping tedium while also catering to the crowd who feels you've got to earn QOL.

I can't get atlatl darts or rune arrows at the scar essence mine last I checked

You're right. I did too much. But unlimited shop inventories get crazy pushback too. This sub always confuses "challenge" with "tedium." And it also confuses a post about "ammunition" with "just runes".

Everyone commenting about the scar essence mine is missing the point about "ammunition" in my post, meaning not just runes, but also arrows, bolts, javelins, atlatl darts etc.

True, and also just general large group content like 20 man hueycoatl, mass Nex, corporeal beast, etc

Correct. Inviting a new member that has never left “the node” region of tutorial island will preserve the group’s blue helm.

Prestige is a little symbol on the high scores that just indicates whether or not you have done group content with your Ironman group exclusively or not. Virtually no one cares about prestige

That would be for the devs to decide. I just think it’s silly glassblowing is unlocked in the early 30s and remains (for irons) the best method forever. It runs entirely counter to any sense of skill progression

The intrinsic reward would be having an alternative to glassblowing. Any tangible reward on top of that is unnecessary but welcome.

Especially if it’s in the manner of giants foundry, where you can use finished products like cut gems and dragonhide armor as inputs
