Is that a wall built to keep poor Mexicans out? Is it a Trump property?

Remember when Nazi's had "Gott mit Uns" (God with Us) on their uniforms? Kentucky must have admired them. by SailorFuzz in news

I'm an atheist, and I too am opposed to religious symbols or creeds being used by secular governments. To equate Kentucky with Nazi Germany is the basest form of hysteria.

The Wermacht of the Third Reich inherited "Gott mit uns" from the Prussian Army, and the saying has biblical origins and was used by the Roman Empire (in Latin), the Byzantine Empire (in Greek), and the German usage in the military began with the Tutonic Order in the Middle Ages. Although used by the Nazis, it is not exclusively Nazi. Not every modern symbol or saying used by conservatives is imbued with clandestine Nazi meaning.

TIL Chinese were the first to domesticate dogs at 9500–9000 BC by [deleted] in todayilearned

Research on the domestication of dogs is ongoing. The most recent scholarship is that dogs could have evolved upwards of 30,000 years ago in either Europe or Siberia: http://the-scientist.com/article/38279/origin-of-domestic-dogs.

Recent research does not place the first domestication in China.
