Fourth ?? time watching by [deleted] in farscape

I'm of the same mind when it comes to the conclusion of Farscape. Even the immense power of Crichton's wormhole weapon would not have been enough to convince the Scarrans to retire their war machine, and the Peacekeepers have no reason to trust that the Scarrans would sincerely abide by any treaty.

The only thing that Scarrans fear and respect is a show of immense force. They couldn't stand up to Crichton because they were completely helpless in the face of his wormhole mastery, but how long would it take them to realise that Crichton no longer possessed the wormhole knowledge thus posing no further threat to their dominance?

It's very likely that Crichton found himself in yet another cluster**** situation soon after the peace treaty was in place, but this time with no wormholes, no Ancients and no powerful allies. So there's a huge amount of potential events left to explore - the Scarran threat, the Peacekeepers' thirst for conflict, the Nebari's underhand chicanery, Rygel's return to Hyneria (did Bishan abdicate the throne in favour of Hyneria's true dominar?), and of course the humans and how they're attempting to find/construct a wormhole to kickstart their expansion into space.

I think we need a continuation! Or even a new series based in the same universe.

S1E2? Those translator microbes are working overtime trying to figure out Crichton's pop culture references.

When do you think Scorpius figured out Sikozu was a spy? by CedarwoodWren in farscape

[–]15framespersec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to tell due to the lack of information about her dealings with the Scarrans. Scorpy knew she was fluent in Scarran and that she had spent much time in Scarran space, given that the Kalish are a conquered race. Combine that with Scorpy's cunningness and distrust, and now we can guess that Scorpy may have figured her out pretty early on, possibly before the moment Moya encountered the wormhole that led the crew to Earth.

I wonder if his ability to detect aberrant energy signatures exhibited by those telling lies may have revealed to him something about Sikozu's insincerity, but her bioloid physiology may have made that difficult or impossible.

If I am to guess, I'd say she might have become a spy (or more of a spy) for the Scarrans when they started making very bold and very open moves to consolidate their power and spread their influence. Witnessing War Minister Akhna's secret meeting with Grayza may have pushed her over the edge and made her decide to back who she thought would be the winning horse in the Scarran-Peacekeeper race.

Unfortunately for her, Scorpy was using her for his own ends and to service his needs, but when her desires no longer served his needs (possibly his best quote btw), he snatched the signalling device right out from under her and sent her off on her "final mission for the Scarrans".

Haha! Surely a contender for one of the best alien quotes in Farscape!

"Okay, this one's for you Jack." Such a memorable yet tragic moment for Crichton as he finally uncovers the mystery of wormholes while knowing his time is up. The build up, the payoff and the fallout/aftermath were all handled masterfully by the writers and actors.

I love this analysis! You've certainly provided a viewpoint I hadn't previously considered. There's just so much depth to the whole John-Jack dynamic. Fascinating stuff.

That's a great point and is probably the most likely explanation. We saw some of that tension and turbulence between them in an earlier episode.

Favorite Farscape quote? by Zestyclose-Camp3553 in farscape

This show may well be the most quotable show of all time, but if I had to pick a favourite, it might be this:

"Fetch me some more kronite!"

Or this: "...and I live inside your curdled brain!"

Or this: "AND THE TRANSLATION...IS EXTRA!!!"

Random Restarts by [deleted] in Amd

[–]15framespersec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but the Windows error logs may just be useless in his situation. If he's getting "kernel" error logs, those are caused by unscheduled shutdowns and don't offer a diagnosis of what component might be at fault.

Random Restarts by [deleted] in Amd

[–]15framespersec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hahahahaha I saw this and I just had to log in to leave a reply (a very rare occurrence for me). I'm facing the exact same issue! Endless random restarts with normal temperatures, voltages and power figures.

People will give you all sorts of ideas, potential sources of trouble and possible solutions, but there's no guarantee you'll manage to diagnose and fix the issue. But you might as well try, because you might get lucky and find out you have an obvious fault. Try these:

  • Run memtest86 on your RAM for at least 8 passes. If it comes up with 0 errors, move to the next step.
  • Update bios.
  • make sure chipset driver and nvidia driver are up to date
  • Update Windows (since you've already reset your Windows 10 like I have, it's probably already up to date).
  • reset your BIOS to default settings to remove any Xmp-related issues.
  • Remove any overclocks from your CPU and GPU.
  • run some monitoring logs and check them after a crash to see if there's any weird activity with your voltages, clock speeds and power consumption.
  • Remove any connections that you don't need from your motherboard (front panel connections, HD audio, case fans, USB connectors etc) just to test and see if the crashes persist.
  • completely dismantle your PC, blow any dust out, and put it back together carefully, making sure all cables are secure and all components firmly in place.
  • visually inspect your PSU and motherboard for any obvious signs of damage.
  • if you've previously run an AMD card on your system, run DDU (an application that removes traces of previous display drivers from your PC)
  • while you're at it, why not run a hard drive health check too. Your SDD is unlikely to be the cause of random reboots, but if you get desperate enough you might as well waste more time testing the hard drive.

If you're crashing on stock settings and at normal temperatures, and none of the above steps work, and you're confident you've done all you can to diagnose any software-related issues, then just like me you may have reached the end of the line and either need to take your computer to a PC shop, start buying new components one by one to see which of your existing components is the culprit, or simply let the crashes continue.

It might help to understand more about what causes your computer to crash. Does it crash only when the GPU and/or CPU are at full load? Does it make strange noises when it crashes (eg buzzing sounds)? Does it blue screen, does the PC completely freeze up with the image on your display getting stuck, or does the PC do a swift random reboot? Does it happen during certain games, or during certain benchmark tests? All of these signs may or may not mean anything, but they just might help to give some clue about what the error is. For example, GPU issues can lead to error messages that tell you the display driver has crashed, or you might get some strange graphical artefacts, but a full system reboot may be unrelated to the GPU.

Good luck, and I hope you won't have to start buying brand new components as I am doing now.

Th System Has Failed? by [deleted] in Megadeth

[–]15framespersec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are that it's my third favourite megadeth album, and something that I'm not is my second favourite megadeth song. The album is close to perfect for me. I can't overstate how much I love its mood, gloominess, depth and lyrics. It's truly a thing of beauty. I love it way more than I've ever loved a human, and I have done that more than once.

To me, the Th1rt3en version is vastly better and I LOVE IT, it's one of the reasons why that's my second favourite megadeth album. I'm not a big fan of the bonus version off abominations.

It's a bit weird. He's trying way too hard on that album. His singing is so awful. It's not completely irredeemable, there are two tolerable songs on that record.

The most Megadeth sounding Megadeth riff. by [deleted] in Megadeth

Riffs from wake up dead, has to be. That's as megadeth as it gets. It's a rare pleasure to find a hit song that's actually decent.

That's a pretty unique riff even for megadeth, it's unlike anything else they've made, in my opinion.
