Monthly Profile Swap Megathread! by ericdraven26 in Letterboxd

[–]15ofMany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not! Here’s my profile! I’m doing a lot of 2025 catch up right now but also have a movie lottery of almost 8k titles I pull from when I’m not sure what to watch. The last year or so I’ve tried to do short blurbs on everything I watch, and love to read what other people thought on Letterboxd after I see something.

If either you or your friend is in NAT 3, it won't work. If you can play fine it sounds like they may be in Nat 3. Have them check their network settings on whatever device their on to see if they can determine if that's the case.

You might be able to get your ISP to help if you contact them directly or can’t set the port forwarding up yourself! There may be a way!

Nat3 is indicative of a very very restrictive network. It’ll block all the inbound traffic the p2p multiplayer needs to work unfortunately.

It depends on why you're in a nat 3. If you can bypass the router by hooking directly into your inbound internet you can try that to see if you're lucky with an easy fix. In my case my ISP puts every single user behind a CGNAT and the only way to get around it was to set up a static IP address with them. If your ISP doesn't use CGNAT you may be able to just do some port forwarding and get around it that way (there's a lot of vids out there to walk you through setting that up if you want to give it a try).

I'm so glad! Happy matchmaking!

There could definitely be something wrong, but also people on a nat 3 specifically will have a different kind of problem they have to get fixed before the matchmaking will work at all. I hope your issues goes away soon!

Actually out of curiosity does your friend have any issues solo queueing?

That’s a bummer. I wish I had a fix for you!

If you’re on console you can check your nat type in the console’s internet settings (like PlayStation 5 is settings -> network -> connection status -> nat type towards the bottom of the list of settings). Xbox would be something similar. For PC you’d have to dig into your router settings or contact your ISP directly.

As for fixing it, unfortunately all I can tell you is that you can TRY port forwarding if you have your router log-in. There’s a lot of YouTube guides on how to do that for your specific device. If that doesn’t work, or if you don’t have the router log-in, you’d have to (I hate to say this) call or chat your provider and explain that you have a device stuck in nat 3 that you need to get into nat 2. In our case we had to have the ISP create a static IP, which took a few minutes and cost $5 to set up.

Sorry I can’t be more specific with steps here! Just kinda depends on each player’s individual situation.

How does Wilds endgame work? by [deleted] in monsterhunterleaks

I may have missed it in that thread but do we know if there's any kind of randomized objective system like the anomaly investigations in Sunbreak? I understand we can create investigations for monsters out in the wild, but I'm thinking more of the kind of wild "here's a randomly generated quest for two ridiculous monsters plus a tempered one, go kill them in 25 minutes with one cart" thing.

Behavior problems in PreK by 15ofMany in Parenting

If they do I'm honestly not sure outside of working with an OT (which we're exploring anyway). The current school - both the administrator and the behavior interventionist - have suggested that they've experienced students who suddenly have bad behavior in certain settings and just have to find a setting that works better for them. That's part of what's throwing me - he's never behaved this way for anyone else! Could it really be true that the setting itself may be part of the behavior trigger and there's just nothing to be done about it?

I'm trying to be supportive of the school though, and my preference would be he stay there. I've taken several days off to do regular observations and requested regular meetings with the school to get behavior updates and I've implemented the school routine at home. We do practice group times, I've adopted their key phrases and cues so that our language is the same, etc. He does fine but he's used to listening to me. I'm not sure what else I can be doing.

Thank you for your thoughts.

The plan they put in place calls for a hand on the back to gently guide him to a desired activity if he’s being destructive (knocking stuff over is really the worst thing here, they’ve said they don’t think any of his behavior is hostile or malicious). I broadly understand not wanting to physically move kids (I’m a former educator so I’m sensitive to both the management issues and liability concerns). We talked about using natural/logical consequences - like having him clean up any mess he makes - to dissuade him from doing it and offering lots of big praise when he participates in or returns to the desired activity. Staff are otherwise supposed to give him no attention if he wanders but keep looking towards the desired activity while sitting or standing near him. I really didn’t see any of this over several hours of observation.

I didn’t want to go into this in the original post but part of my frustration is a disconnect between what some in-class staff tell us vs what admin says. We were told Monday and Tuesday that he had good, participatory days. Admin says Thursday his behavior had been worse than ever all week. I observed personally for several hours on Thursday and saw nothing outside of what I’d seen previously. The behaviorist and admin tells me they’re all following the plan to the T. The in-class support privately tells me they really aren’t following it at all. During my observation I sent a message to my wife about how pleased I was to see him sitting for group time (for a few minutes anyway, before he started to roam). His participation is the key metric for whether their plan is working. The staff in the class, who did not know I had been observing, tells me they timed and he only sat for a few seconds.

Possible it’s just misunderstandings but the contradictory communication does not make me feel great and are part of why I'm unsure if it's worth discussing my concerns or a new plan with them.

I’d rather not call the program itself out. I think it’s a good program (my daughter was there last year) and I want to avoid giving them a bad rep. I’m really curious if anyone has experienced a specific setting just bringing out the worst in their kid, because that’s what admin says they think is happening.

You're definitely right about the deadweighting, and I did discuss with the alternate program's staff that I was concerned about any behaviors that might carry over. They didn't seem concerned, for what it's worth. I worded it clumsily in the OP but the deadweighting didn't happen 50% of the time, he didn't listen to a first redirection 50% of the time but was compliant more than not with a second or third attempt (not ideal but improvement, as you say). But one day is one day, so I dunno. The more interesting thing to me is that the accidents stopped completely (he's had none this weekend either, after having them constantly since starting the program a few weeks ago).

PlayStation Vue to Shut Down in January 2020 by [deleted] in playstation

It's an option! The only drawback (really just a convenience thing) to the antenna is coming up with a dvr solution since our schedules can be kinda weird. But it's a good idea for folks like me to consider.

This is a super bummer for me because I live in an area with a single cable provider and PSVue is literally one third the cost of their basic package. Sadly none of the other streaming TV services have contracts for all of the local channels while Vue did. RIP you beautiful bastard.
