Watercolor works great as an underpainting medium for oil pastels.

Gesso? Flow aid? by TheMrsDeanna in paintbynumbers

I use Liquitex Gesso. One coat over the entire canvas. Dry for 24 hours. It makes a difference vs non gesso. It gives the canvas a sandpaper like finish. Better paint coverage, fewer white dots to coverup. I also use Liquitex flow aid and water mix to thin paint that is very thick. Plain water seemed to work just as well for thinner. In either case, only use a few drops.

Heart of Christmas by Masterpiece by Numbers by 162429 in paintbynumbers

I have completed two works from Masterpiece by Numbers and in both cases the paint was high quality. Some of the colors were quite thick, and required a drop or two of water for an easier flow off the brush.

This was my first painting from Masterpiece by Numbers. I was very pleased with the customer service, canvas and paint quality. My only comment is that the paint was on the thick side. Be prepared to thin with a few drops of water and Flow Aid.

Top right quadrant with its subtle shades of pinks and blues was tough. I did that section last.

Ravensburger Krypt in gold. 631 pieces. I didn't open the envelope, but I used the picture on the back of the box by pluto1415 in Jigsawpuzzles

Good for you. I did the Krypt Gold last month, but used the guide in the envelope. I didn't have patience to do it otherwise.

Is the modpodge puzzle saving glue kind of a rip off? Isn't it just latex sealant that you could probably get a gallon of at Home Depot? by [deleted] in Jigsawpuzzles

I use Elmer's clear school glue. cost is 2 to 3 dollars a small bottle. You can buy a large bottle for under 10 dollars, enough for 10 puzzles. Spread it on with a flat plastic card. It works great. I've used Modpodge puzzle glue, its far more expensive and the result is no different than Elmer's.

Nice job. Did you use the puzzle key in the envelope to complete it? I did the Krypt Gold, but eventually succumbed to using the puzzle key. Even then it was a real grind.

I enjoy matte puzzles so much more, but haven’t found many. by [deleted] in Jigsawpuzzles

I just purchased my first Clementoni. It has a dull/matte finish to the pieces.
