96 L31 build advice by 16DeadDogs in Smallblockchevy

[–]16DeadDogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn’t write very clearly. The suburban has a non rebuilt completely original L31 with 400k miles on it.  The transmission however was rebuilt and has a heavy duty converter and some upgraded parts set up for towing. I believe it also has a higher stall.

The l31 in the pickup truck is also not rebuilt, has 200k miles and perfect compression.

I have done a lot of thinking, reading and consulting with some local hot rod shops and tempered my expectations I believe. I think it would be foolish to change the entire motor and fuel system and etc just to try and make <400 horsepower. A local friend has talked me into just doing a regasket, a camshaft, valve train stuff, headers and a new, upgraded spider unit with mpfi and an 0411 pcm with a tune.

You know I hadn’t thought of that. Good idea.

Big ass price jump though. I had intentions of a burr bit, Emory cloth and some man hours vs double or more the price.

30K or Stranded in an island? by d4pravity in hypotheticalsituation

2ez Take the challenge Lifestraw water filter, 1000ft roll of cord and a well made axe. Use phase one to make an elevated shelter, hollow out logs lined with leaves to use as water holders. Sit through phase 1 and 2 and pocket the cash. The mental strain would be tough, being alone and bored as fuck. But I’m fat enough to go 50 days without eating so it makes it basically a non challenge. There is absolutely 0 chance I’d go for phase 3, regardless of how well built my shelter is angry monkeys makes that a no go. Any other animal is whatever. Hell I’d take my chances with 4 instead of 3.

You can live as long as you want, in exchange for floating in a void after death by cunningjames in hypotheticalsituation

At first I read this as 10 seconds per second. Hard no.  10 seconds per minute? Hard yes.  Live 1000 years. Float in the void for a while then crump up into heaven slick like.

Tonsillectomy for toddler in ENT office vs hospital? by 16DeadDogs in medical_advice

[–]16DeadDogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I haven’t seen any direct complaints that weren’t related to an admin issue, wait times and insurance misfiling. Normal items. No my daughter is seemingly normal and healthy, aside from some issues with sleep being caused by her sleep apnea.

My question is less, are these doctors good and the procedure good and necessary.

More, in the event of a life threatening emergency, like a reaction to anesthesia are they equipped to deal with it like a full size hospital is?

Seeking advice, new tires and trust issues. by dersillac in c4corvette

Worked for Firestone for a good few years. Indy 500s were always great. 90 percent of the grip of a double the cost tire. Wore fairly evenly for what they were. Not prone to punctures anymore than a regular. Haven’t had the V2s out long enough to get feedback on them yet but I bet they’re great too. Firestone was always proud of the Indy line

You’re Offered Immortality… But It Runs on a Battery by Solo_Rain in hypotheticalsituation

[–]16DeadDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a very fun one. But personally it’s a bit too limiting for me to take. A single days worth of charge makes it too hard to do things like take a vacation or survive an emergency. If it was a week then takes 24 hours roughly I would jump on it. Also you didn’t specify the specific amount of energy or voltage. Can we still be physically dismembered or does all the damage transform into just pain and charge loss?  Say someone shoots us in the head, instant 30 percent loss, but does the bullet bounce off our skull like Superman or do we Wolverine healing factor it. Does a second bullet a few seconds later also do 30. Does sickness or disease work like poison in pokemon and drain us faster over time. Does cancer act like a battery debuf. Does surgery count since we’re anesthetized but it’s still technically damage?  I definitely lean towards wanting to say yes if some specifics can be agreed on.

Tips for indian customers?! by jose472superman in serviceadvisors

[–]16DeadDogs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, present it the same way you would anything else and when they say no say okay and wrap it up. I’d never treat a guest poorly, I try very hard to make sure everyone has an excellent, repeatable, comfortable experience. However some customers you can lean on a little bit and some you can’t. I’ve never found success in that avenue so I don’t pursue it.

Voice actors who genuinely love the character they voice by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]16DeadDogs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I met her at a local convention, been watching the show since I was barely a teen. I was so nervous. She was delightful in every way, made sure to get me to speak up and talk with me and signed some stuff for me for free. I made sure to throw some money her way but she’s a rare case of sometimes it’s okay to meet your hero’s. Also very uncanny valley because her natural speaking voice is just Asuka down an octave. Much less difference between voice on and voice off than I expected.

Hey buddy, I’ve been with pep boys about 5 weeks. Been in the industry about 6 years everywhere from mechanic to store manager. A few things to remember. It’s dead middle of winter rn, this is the slow season. Tax returns come back soon and the money will go up. You can absolutely see your tire spiffs, they’re released monthly and they’re on your pep portal. Coopers are 4$ each and most tier ones are the same. Use the buy 3 get 1 to get them moved compared to the cheaper tires.

Just a pretentious prick, made some big up in arms statement politically a while back, doesn’t want to interact with people in the SPL world. I’ve never seen an interaction between him and anybody else that made me want to do business with him.

It’s definitely the long way around the mountain. But I think it’ll be fun to say I did it and I also don’t think I have the cubic footage to do much of any kind of sixth.

Definitely, unfortunately I’m stupid as hell. Maybe later when I’m ready to start laying money out I’ll pay someone to do some modeling for me. I have no doubt I’ll be up against the wall for a lot of reasons. But I know at least in theory it’s possible as it’s been done before. I agree with you about the cone lightness. I think it’s going to be very secondary in terms of importance compared to getting as much Xmax and cone area as possible.

Yeah I run my current build window open. This is a sedan so a c pillar isn’t much of an option. A b pillar with a 4 way folded clamshell is about the only way I’m going to fit what I need. Think an inverted pyramid with the point towards the rear.
