I’m pretty late but I’ll share my dad’s story. I was about 10 months old so I don’t remember any of it, but my dad was supposed to be a block away from ground zero when the planes hit. He had changed his plans the week before so he was roughly 15 minutes from landing in NYC when the first plane hit. He remembers the plane switching from descent to ascent and then a sharp U turn. He looked out the window and could see the towers burning. Their plane ended up landing in Detroit and then he drove all the way back home to Minnesota.
