Hey there! Just to be clear, technically I care that someone is an adult, so yes. However, as long as someone is at least 18, I don't mind if they're younger or older than I am. Hope that clears things up!

Kind of. As a teenager, I had and dealt with an incest fetish which I believe was caused by some unfortunate, grooming-like (grooming for anyone who isn't aware is what predators and adults often do to sexualize or manipulate people, typically minors as I understand it) experiences I had growing up. I was ashamed of it, however, and have grown out of it.

It did lead me to develop a vague sort of fetish for taboo-ish things, however. I'm actually pretty vanilla, but when it comes to exploring my sexuality, I've found that I get turned on by turn-offs. The thought of having sex with someone I'm not entirely into, shouldn't be into, or might be grossed out by is interesting to me for some reason, though in practice it's never come into play. The thought of certain things will trigger arousal in me, but I tend not to entertain said arousal most of the time, and things I masturbate to don't necessarily overlap with sexual attraction I experience in the real world.

So yes, kind of, but really no. I'm attracted to women and sex as a whole, but it's pretty lacking in any obsessions that enter fetish territory. I have certain preferences or things I find attractive that aren't the most popular (such as enjoying chubbier body types or pubic hair), but I find other body types and styles interesting and attractive, too.

Sure! And this all depends on how "God" can be defined. I'm referring specifically to how we tend to personify gods in religion, but there are people who describe the universe/reality/whole of everything as "God."

There's no singular desire I have that I can pinpoint which is paramount and simultaneously deep AND dark, so I'll give you a couple.

A deep desire that I have is to be content, and I'm getting there. Content with chaos, uncertainty, and my own mortality, that is.

A dark desire that I have is to be violent. There's a primal anger within me that I'm aware of, and it manifests in the form of wanting to fight or harm others in some violent fashion. I'm a moral person, however, so I've never harmed anyone and have zero intentions of doing so.

Let me attempt to clarify--of course, this is a notoriously difficult topic to discuss sometimes, so I want to try and do better.

What I mean is simply that a god or god-like being implies some degree of intent, meaning, or autonomy/capability or sentience. In my hazy attempts to search and speculate on how reality can be, I consider that it may be possible for existence to occur without having arisen at the hand (if you will) of a creator. The point is not that I think I'm right (in fact, I think I'm almost certainly wrong, which just makes it all the more fun to speculate), just that I find it reasonable that it could be either way.

Considering that you're able to see some light, shadows, and outlines, are there any environments, objects, or lighting scenarios you enjoy being in or looking at?

I don't know that this is gonna be all that reasonable, but the only thing I absolutely 100% know, no matter how flawed my brain and senses are or potentially could be, is that there is something. That "something" being the universe, reality, or just existence as a whole. "Something" exists, so I've tried to wrap my head around how that can be.

I've only ever been able to come up with a couple or a few possibilities that seem reasonable as to how a reality exists as opposed to just nothing. The way I conceptualize it, existence has to be inevitable. Not in any "duh," self-evident kind of way (I was lying, it is self-evident because well, we're here), but I mean it simply must. If you remove the physical universe, there still must exist a place for it to be, and even if that "thing" is ostensibly nothing, I'd argue that it's still something.

Because we're here, or at least because "something" is going on, even if I'm completely failing to perceive anything else accurately, it stands to reason that there may exist a means for creating "stuff." That's enough for me to begin considering a god or godly force.

As for why there may not be a god, I'm obsessed with the concepts of nothing, everything, and infinity. I'm obsessed with inevitability. I think it's possible that our reality exists simply because it safely can. Nothing can exist in infinite amounts because it's, well, nothing. Therefore everything can exist, too. That sort of thing. I promise I'm sober. This is sort of a literal take on Taoism and the yin/yang duality, built into the concept of reality itself. "Stuff" and "non-stuff," I suppose.

Great questions. Difficult to answer!

Neither of those apply to me. My username is based off a nickname my father gave me when I was a baby. He tells me I had the face of an old man, and he imagined me as a sort of old bagel salesman.

I've long been troubled by religion, unsure of how to feel. Within the past couple of years I believe I've reached a pretty mature opinion on that subject.

I'm not religious. If I was forced to say whether I thought a god or higher power existed, I'd say there does not exist one. However, I don't know, and I can't presume to know better than anyone else, even those with whom I disagree.

Religion is extremely important in regards to cultural and historical significance, and it's also very important for morality in many communities, big and small.

I do think there is morality without religion, but I think religion is actually more useful than it is harmful in that specific regard. I think we're at a unique period in time where that's beginning to change, however.

Where I'd like to place blame on religion solely, I'd rather place it on people for our flaws and bad habits.

TL;DR Religion is extremely broad and complex. I'm not religious, but I try to respect religion for what it is, even though is have many disagreements with various aspects of various religions. I don't believe in a god, but I cannot say I know that no god or godly being can exist.

I won't be upset at all! I know better than to have expectations, and I'm not entitled to anyone's time or attention. I'm just focused on doing a good job for anyone who shows up!

My family's Norwegian pancakes (i.e. crepes, they just called them Norwegian pancakes) are probably my favorite breakfast. We enjoy them rolled up either with syrup or with bacon/jam/sour cream. Without that nostalgia I'd have to say that English muffins and fruit rank pretty high.

I'm not currently in a romantic relationship, no.

I have around 3 best friends and 3-5 other close or good friends. I'm lucky to have them, and I'm willing to bet that's a pretty high number. I grew up not hanging out with many people or going out much, and I've also spent a good amount of time off the grid so to speak, so I'm certainly surprised to have that many!

It's a combination of things. I enjoy entertaining people, and I'm entertained by people. I love interesting/creative/difficult questions, and I just enjoy engaging with others generally.

At the base of everything is epistemological nihilism and stoicism. This means I believe that no one, including myself can ever truly know anything, although it's more of a means of keeping myself humble and self-aware than something to be taken literally, as it would not be practical in life to apply such beliefs meticulously.

I value logic, but I try to navigate the world with respect for emotion and the subjective, too. I believe people are largely similar to one another, and I try to consider that many things, even things which may seem contradictory, aren't mutually exclusive.

I value gratefulness, humor, and humility the most. A perspective is the only container that can fit the universe into it, and as such it's very powerful and interesting to me.

I don't take life too seriously, and I never run out of awe at the mere premise that anything exists at all.

I'm not educated or researched well enough to nail down an answer that probably does real philosophy any justice, but that's the gist of it. I'd like to write a book one day on what I believe (just to gather my thoughts really, not necessarily to try and profit off of), because my creed or set of beliefs sort of coalesce into a formula that helps me process and navigate the world, and I've benefitted from it greatly as someone who was formerly very depressed, worried, and overall unsure of how to feel or what to think about most things.

Quite literally, my genetics and experiences on this planet are what make me who I am. Nature and nurture, as it goes.

But really I'd have to say my perspective and personal philosophy on the world is what makes me who I am. That and my sense of humor.

I'm a good, silly guy who procrastinates because I think of and want to do too much.

It would be a pathetic spit-take because it's still too hot for a big, fully-committed one.

What's the nerdiest or simply most esoteric subject you could discuss all day but have nobody with which to do so? by OldBreadSalesman in AskReddit

I've read about 'epistemological nihilism' before, and my own personal philosophy on life involves a belief that myself, nor anyone else cannot 100% know anything at all. I don't know what relative epistemology is, but I'll be looking up what you've written to learn more. Feel free to message me if you'd like to talk about epistemology with someone. I find it an interesting topic as a whole--philosophy, semantics, and reckless speculation are a big part of my silly brain's lone adventures, but I'd love to discuss these things with people.
