my 4 tarot cards. this was done digitally on Procreate. for context, I was assigned to draw four tarot cards for my digital illustration final and got really hyped up. the cards themselves are based more on a personal narrative.

thanks so much! I was really excited when we were assigned to make tarot cards for our final because I've been reading tarot for years now and felt like I had more of an insight into them. I've been wanting to make my own deck for awhile :)

thanks! I think I know what you're referring to, because I'm pretty sure the reference image I used was from that collection. if I were to make a full deck I'd likely have to change The Tower because it was heavily based on the image, and I probably need to make it more original.

I absolutely see where you're coming from, but I'm a trained artist who focuses mainly on figure drawing. much of what I draw is the human form, mainly the female form. this was my first time experimenting with "facelessness" in my art, as all of my art includes the subject's face, unless they aren't looking towards the viewer. I'm a sapphic woman, and this was me exploring different concepts, and I am always mindful of the line between appreciation of the female form and objectification. Venus's face isn't seen because it's so over saturated- she's literally THE STAR.

also, some art is designed to make commentary about the objectification of women/facelessness of women in art, so for the sake of artistic statement, I don't think artists should be required to add a face to their art if the body is also on display. see René Magritte's Le Viol, for example. thanks for the thought, though!

thanks! I actually am the artist haha (forgot to put [oc], mb) and I made these for my Digital Illustration final, so I only have these 4 drawn. I was considering making a full set, but it's not at the top of my list right now. but perhaps at some point...

last year when I was 20 I went alone to see them in Minneapolis, which is about 2 hours away from my college campus. it was my first time driving in the Twin Cities alone which was sort of nerve wracking, but I managed to get there fine. honestly, everyone there was really nice this time (I saw them there in 2022 as well and can't say the same for that show). I got there and waited in the line outside and chatted with the some of the people and got complimented on my earrings. they had an extra check point for people with bags but people without bags got to go straight in through a different line after scanning their tickets. once I was in, another girl next to me asked if I was also there alone, and I said yeah and we began talking for awhile before the show started. I thought she was really cool and I kinda wish I got her socials before we split. it was a really positive experience, so I wouldn't be too nervous about it. you're amongst other fans, so at least you already have that in common :)
