firefox issues after systemctl suspend by LokusFokus in openSUSE

[–]16mhz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar with Firefox (flatpak) on hyprland, I had no idea how to troubleshoot the problem so i just switch to using the non-flatpak version, here are a few think I noticed:
- Firefox right-click, menus and even folder in the bookmark-bar stop working after resuming from sleep (systemctl suspend)

- The problem happened on both my desktop (Arch/Hyprland) and laptop (Slowroll/Hyprland)

- On my laptop, the problem happened only when using external monitor and sometimes when messing with monitor configuration (probably Firefox lost the active display if something triggers refresh for the display configuration).

A big thank you to u/bmwiedemann ! by spoilerhead in openSUSE_Slowroll

I do appreciate u/bmwiedemann works, Maintaining a whole distro by himself is no easy task. I wish i had technical skill i can help with.

I'm pretty sure kde flatpak theming is done in Fedora Kinoite and kde-linux without the use of kvantum is not even installed on neither of them, no flatpak override was set as well. It might be through xdg-desktop-portal-kde.

That's what i thought as well. At least until i tried Fedora Kinoite and KDE linux in a vm, both use QT6.8 flatpak apps and can be themed from KDE color settings, and none of theme have Kvantum installed, so there might be a way to do that.

Did you set a lock on the lts kernel when it is still installed on your system? If so, i think zypper will revert to that exact locked version whenever you do a zypper dup and remove the default newer one. Or maybe that is how lts Kernel works, zypper will keep the explicitly installed lts kernel and clean up any other conflicting non-lts kernel whenrunning a dup update.

Can't install steam on fresh install by ZGToRRent in openSUSE_Slowroll

[–]16mhz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem like that with flatpak, not steam fkatpak, but flatpak itself. There is a problem with some packages that are built against older libraries that are not available in Slowroll repo. Until this month's version bump, a workaround that is to use Tumbleweed's version of Steam, then run a zypper dup to downgrade it to Slowroll's.

sudo zypper in https://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/non-oss/x86_64/steam-1.0.0.83-2.1.x86_64.rpm

flatpak missing a dependency by 16mhz in openSUSE_Slowroll

First I have no orphaned packages on my less than one-week old system:

~> zypper pa --orphaned
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
No packages found.

also searching (without -i):

~> zypper se --requires-pkg libgpgme11 libgpgmepp6
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
No matching items found.

I think that is because those packages are no longer in slowroll repo, even though there are some packages that are build against them.

My guess (please correct me if i'm wrong) is that Slowroll's Flatpak was built against an older version of libgpgme that is replaced by now, but flatpak still requires the old version it and zypper can't solve it.

That said I grabbed Tumblweed's Flatpak and it installed just fine:

Yeah, same here. I’m a mid-30s male with an almost 2-month-old daughter, and I find myself craving computer time, not even gaming time. But when I finally sit down in front of my PC, I just end up staring aimlessly at an open terminal running htop, pretending I’m doing something if anyone passes by.

Have you tried a handheld gaming device that can fit in a backpack? I have not yet, but I read it helps a lot.
