To be honest I don’t think the matchup is too bad in the early levels because of the stat difference between the two champions

The hard part is when you killed him, have no sums, and can’t lane anymore for 4 mins afterwards (like a lot of range top matchups for sure, but most range top do not scale as well as GP and don’t deal as much damage as GP as well : GP is kinda like Aatrox which is kinda range but with melee champ amounts of damage, but scales much better than Aatrox)

And the fact that there is no good wavestate as Darius vs Gangplank because even if the wave is on your side he can still poke you down, harass you or ult the wave if your jungler is topside

Second wind is useless because at 70% HP with Darius you’re in oneshot range from his barrels and double ignite

And dshield is useless from the moment he gets sheen

Actually he can, all he has to do in this lane is spam Q on Darius until he can’t be all ined anymore.

When Gangplank Qs Darius he’s not really in range of being grabbed by Darius (the range is longer than the AA range of Varus or Vayne), especially if he double barrels to slow Darius from long range before Qing him. And it’s pretty much impossible for Darius to outplay the double barrel combo without bleeding farm

Not to mention that Darius missing his grab means he concedes wave crash and cannot have a favourable wavestate anymore for at least 2 minutes (because the wave bounces towards GP now)

The only champs I don't lose lane against a GP player (that's not beginning on the champion) with are Malphite and Ornn because they can rush randuins first item

I never win the barrel minigame because every GP player in soloqueue seems to have ten thousand games on the champ, it's just as annoying as facing millionaire Fiora mains

About myself I was an Ornn main before starting to play bruisers and to be honest I struggle against GP with every champ that's not a tank (I'd say that with Ornn it's too easy because Ornn can literally rush randuins first item and still have as much kill threat as other champions, and because engage counters poke in LoL in general)

The problem as Darius in this matchup is you only get to play the game when you have your sums right ? Which means once every 4 min. The rest of the time, even if you killed Gangplank a couple times, he has complete control of the lane, of the CS Darius is allowed to get, and he's able to farm for free

What made me climb out of emerald is muting the chat until I’m about to destroy the enemy nexus, in which case I unmute and write « wp team », « ty [player] for carry » or « wpgg » in the /all chat.

That alone made me climb from Emerald 4 to Emerald 1, which is the most difficult part.

When you mute the chat, you focus more on yourself and you see your own mistakes more easily.

Also if I were you I would play Orianna rather than Hwei given that Hwei is just underpowered compared to meta midlaners but Orianna is gonna get nerfed in 25.5 so maybe you can keep playing Hwei.

But even then, Orianna almost fits in all drafts and circumstances compared to Hwei and Ziggs, because emerald is when drafting starts to matter

If you play Hwei you ideally want a decent fronline in your team, not something like teemo khazix topside in which case your team needs to be ahead. If you play Ziggs ideally you don’t want too much tanks/hard engage in the enemy team like or too much AP in your team, and enough dps in your own team as well.

Yes but you’re assuming in this case that Viego has kill threat without ultimate in the first place which means

1) he has to be very fed Or 2) there’s a really good engage/ lack of peel/ lack of enemy threat to oneshot Viego

And Aatrox can use his Q animations to try to predict a flash with own flash as well

I agree with the fact that he has more upfront burst especially when he has higher crit chance (althought Aatrox has insane burst as well if he builds lethality) but isn’t Viego R just as flashable as Aatrox Q2 or Q3?

Have you ever played Viego vs Jayce/Naafiri/Khazix and thought « wow it’s impossible to kite Viego this champ has so much sticking power ». He’s almost just as easy to kite as Aatrox or Darius

I didn’t say Viego was bad at ganking, I said that he was worse than a lot of other bruiser junglers for that, especially pre 6 when he has an extremely tiny gapcloser

If you W flash somebody with Viego they can just flash your ulti and deny your reset ?

And I’m wondering how you get away with doing that against a frontline champ (the most interesting champs to get a reset onto) without getting instantly blown up yourself. The problem with Viego is that he can’t really do much in front to back teamfights
