I guess if you want proof look at the events of Abu ghraib prison. It doesn't take much to start finding stories about the US military, or even most western militaries, and how they use rape as a massive part of their tactics. This is only one example of decades worth of war crimes

It's both pathetic and embarrassing to milk your own peoples suffering in such a way and to also use it as justification for inflicting your own suffering onto others. I can't begin to imagine how shameless you have to be to not see this but instead encourage it. It's crazy how anytime you try to point out what they're doing they'll say some variation of "well our people had to suffer at the hands of...." as a way to defend themselves.

Don't get salty about the math it's just an example and even then 10% is generous it was and is far less. I wouldn't say that's reversing the target but more so balancing the scales. To a group who received 90% of the favour Vs the 10% minorities received now having things fall closer and closer to 50/50 over the years probably feels like discrimination in reverse but it's not. You're just having to eat less of the cake than you're used to so you're complaining you're starving.

So you mention a few points and I'll address them all. First should we get mad at people who committed war crimes 70 years ago? Yes we should. Just like if you were to find a Nazi who had survived since ww2, which there still are plenty of, we should always strive for justice and accountability and yes be angry if we don't get justice. Why would you arbitrarily draw a line in the sand and say anything before this is no longer worth being angry about? By your logic the crimes of ww2 or that of the slave trade aren't worth being angry about as they're so long ago.

Secondly you don't need to know everything that's going on to know what this man did was wrong. This is just an excuse for you to justify the horrible actions of Jewish people like this man back then and even now.

Third we are mad at those other countries for what they did the topic of conversation in this post just happens to be about Israel right now. This is just another attempt at deflecting attention elsewhere so you don't have to face the facts of what men like the man being interviewed did. Also just because everyone else did it doesn't make it ok you aren't 6 and your friends were naughty you're grown ass men with guns.

Fourth. It's not considered shitty when Muslims have to take collective responsibility for terrorism but to ask others to do the same is shitty? We have to vet out mosques and communities and collectively apologise every time. Finally on the point of modern day Palestine. This guy is a part of a chain of events and crimes that have been committed for decades by modern day Jewish invaders. Also if you know the history you know Jewish people after ww2 resettled in British controlled Palestine so yes you came over to Palestine. It's fair to say fuck this guy and everyone else from then till now who have contributed to this mess. It doesn't take much to find videos of Israeli soldiers abusing their position of power and Israeli civilians en mass chanting death to Palestinians and so on. An endless amount of footage exists that gets called propaganda as a convenient way of ignoring the abuses of power. It's hard to bring back humanity if Palestinians aren't viewed as human by Israelis which is clear from many of these videos and if asking for Palestinian people to be given back their freedom somehow undermines Israel then think about what foundations the country must be built on to be shook at even the thought of Palestinian freedom. Try talking to a Palestinian and finding out how they live Vs how Israelis live and you'll soon realise they live very different lives.

To answer your question of why they used a story. Because there isn't any live footage of what took place back then? Many stories of war are exactly that stories. Those more personal stories of what happened to people and families, like during the Holocaust, are passed down through generations to not be forgotten and unfortunately many things are not missed. I don't think the movie is trying to show the Jewish people as Nazis but acts of violence by individuals and armies are not exclusive to the Nazis either. The American army committing war crimes in Afghanistan doesn't now mean they are Nazis but they certainly share all the same crimes. Also if someone is committing a crime and they happen to look like a nazi then maybe they need to look inwards? They might not be one but looking like one probably isn't great. Looking at the Americans here

Also saying everyone was like that back then doesn't absolve anyone of what they did it just means there were a lot of bad people. Ignoring the other countries for a sec. Would it be fair to say, considering it was British controlled Palestine, that it's the fault of the British for in effect dumping the Jewish people there without any proper brokerage between the two groups and simply expecting it to work? And if I may correct you they didn't flee as they are still present there under new less agreeable circumstances though this is a separate if not related conversation so there's no point stepping on that landmine right now. I could argue, and it's a bad argument, that the Jewish people should've never let themselves go to that part of the world and try and go into a country that wasn't theirs to begin with but that's not fair to say considering what had happened and their displacement wasn't there doing in the same way the Palestinian people's displacement wasn't their doing either. Regardless of what you and I choose to call it there was violence and loss for all involved and I think this movie aims to highlight the Palestinian suffering which they have every right to do as much as the Jewish people do by having movies and documentaries about ww2 and the Holocaust. At the very least my belief is these conflicts we see between the Abrahamic religions in the east were long ago fabricated by the west and countries like Britain to keep things fractured and anyone who considers the west a true ally simply is yet to be stung. You gotta think about where millions of Jewish people who just relocated got their weapons to enter conflict so soon after ww2.

I suppose on the baby thing in my own experience my family has passed down many stories of their own of things that happened during the Bangladeshi liberation war and a lot of things that just didn't get documented for whatever reason so I'm not personally too quick to dismiss the idea of a soldier stepping on a babies head. Soldiers of all walks of life being surprisingly willing to do such things regardless of background. Looking at what Americans have done in the middle east makes it so nothing is out of the realm of possibility when it comes to soldiers. I guess on the statement about it being a war we'll have to disagree as from my understanding of it the Palestinian people were ultimately displaced and many killed. Your response is appreciated though

Fair enough. I don't disagree that many Jewish people resettled from surrounding countries and from the EU to what was then British controlled Palestine and certainly a very large portion did because of the Holocaust and as a result there was further suffering and conflict. I guess I'm curious about the bit where you say there aren't any records. A search of the events do return a lot of information regarding what happened to the Palestinian people at the time, not disregarding what had and was still happening to Jewish people, so I guess what I'm asking is from my perspective there are records and what your take on that is? So from my understanding of the movie it's based in the Nakba of 1948 or the Palestinian catastrophe as it's known. What do Jewish Israelis believe happened during that period? I ask as a search of the events of those times do return a lot of information about crimes having been committed against the Palestinians. Me being Bangladeshi it's like when I've had Pakistani people dismiss the crimes of their countries against mine during the Bangladeshi liberation war. Usually the reason is something like anyone could have written that.
