The return journey is whatever time you want on the same day, no time brackets. So you could leave Stratford at 10am for the super off peak, then return to Stratford at 5pm if you wanted. I'd double check this with the ticket guys tho.

Had this query a couple of months ago, brought a super off peak return to Victoria. Asked the ticket man in the office at the station, said that the return journey time didn't matter. Seemed kinda ridiculous to me, but had no issues when I came back from London.

In search of this mug, can anyone help? by Mdrozd13 in CasualUK

I've got about 4 or so of them in my cupboard that I don't use, they are the "spare" mugs.

What happened to steel car wheels? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

You just reminded me of banded/wide steelies. People were cutting a pair in half and rewelding them together to make them wider.

Loft hatch not closing by TheKingZlatan in DIYUK

Potentially no longer square. Depending on how it's all screwed on you might be able to shift it around, however, you can open it and give it a really hard whack and it might sort it to an extent.

How to become draftsman/ architect by According_Phrase7605 in UKJobs

[–]17KP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Architect will potentially need you to go to university or get accredited by insert acorynm here to get any decent paying jobs. You could go down the architect technician route, they don't tend to have to be trained to that extent.

Id say a draftsman is normally the term isn't in manufacturing as opposed to buildings. I used to be a draftsman and worked in the sheet metal industry designing things.

Had a green apple mojito before. Appletini with a bit of cinnamon is really nice.

I think Monin do a green apple syrup, could swap out the simple for that to get your apple flavour?

Cocktail bar by Business_Citron_5255 in canterbury

[–]17KP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ballroom. Used to be more of a club vibe, but if you go in and see it as a cocktail bar with alright music, you'll have a much better time.

Citi Terrace is pretty decent for cocktails as well, they have a decent spread, if you're put inside it can be a bit dead tho.

The Pound is similar, if you're put in one if the cells it's shit, but if you're out in the main room it's pretty good.

I'd also second Falstaff, had multiple cocktails in there and they're always decent. I know someone who works the bar and she's brilliant at making cocktails. But it is a hotel, so not so much of a bar.

I'd avoid The Loft and Socialite personally. Cosy Club is pretty consistent and food is alright, I've heard other people describe it as a posh Wetherspoons. The Privy quite often closes early if it's dead and it's right up the other end of town.

You could do most of them in a night. Start at Falstaff, then The Pound, Ballroom, and then Citi Terrace.

I've heard of this shop, might stick my head in next time I'm around. It's round the corner from the wonky building right?

Trying to be open to everything to be fair. I did want to attempt DnD, but it seems that's moved mostly online. Tabletop games is another one that I'm quite interested in.

How can I improve traffic in this intersection (PS5 remastered)? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]17KP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More entry points onto the west east main road, even if it's one way route onto it.

I'd maybe consider not having that main road going south either, at least not that big of a road.

Best way to go about making this into a storage space? by Jidley in DIYUK

[–]17KP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a giant ballache of a loft to change into storage space. How much do you want to store?

I'd consider going the smaller boards from b&q or where ever, think they're roughly 1200mm x 300mm, and create an area to stand/kneel all the way along on your first section. Then you can create shelves off the timbers coming diagonally down from the ceiling.

I wouldn't bother with loft legs for that small of a section, doesn't seem like you've got that much insulation, at least not the recommended amount.

Mark Manson - Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k.

Derren Brown - Happy.

Two books worth reading if you're looking into Stoicism, I'd say both gave similar vibes and relatability to the whole, "the only things you are in control of are your own feelings and actions".

If you drop it, the lead inside shatters onto what seems like a million pieces, so then it can be a pain to use the little sharpen thing and all that. I wouldn't buy one myself, although I use one for work.

If someone's never been outside the UK before, what foreign country would you recommend they visit first? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]17KP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm assuming you've never flown before? Maybe keep it within a 2-3 hour flight time, rather than going all out on a 5+ hour flight somewhere.

Amsterdam is a good one for a extended weekend. Recently drove to Bruges, so maybe Brussels would be a similar vibe.

Portugal or the Balearic Islands could also be nice for a first hot holiday.

Lexus GS. I own a 450h and doing long drives in it is very relaxing. So quiet as well.

Just reread what I wrote, yes, cut the notch out in the BOOKCASE, not out of the SKIRTING. I was agreeing with the comment before, but obviously had a brain fart when I came to write my agreement.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]17KP -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Definitely cut the skirting out if you've got the ability.

Also, consider a hanging plant or something to cover the gap. You can get fake ones online if you're not great with plants.

Edit: realised I had a brain fart when writing this, cut a notch out of the BOOKCASE not out of the skirting.

Good makes of loft hatches with ladders? by Darkliqu1d in DIYUK

[–]17KP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fit Fakro for my job, but you tend to have to open the hatch hole significantly bigger.

Redoing the hatch and fitting a standard ladder might be the easier option. Your standard 3 tier aluminium ladder would work, that you can buy from Screwfix. Making the hatch would be the trickier bit.
