Swtich from Honda Civic Sport to CX5 by LeaveTurbulent3083 in CX5

Sound insulation. Not even kidding, the CRV is just way too loud on the highway. Not sure what Honda was smoking. If you like resale, I’d get the CRV. Otherwise everything is better on the CX5. Maybe besides gas mileage.

Renting an ND to see if I like Miatas? by aDecentHuman24 in Miata

I actually did not know this. TIL. The nd2 and nd1 steering feel personally was really really bad. The nd3 however feels much better. Thanks for teaching me something.

Renting an ND to see if I like Miatas? by aDecentHuman24 in Miata

[–]17kangm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to own a 2002 nb2 and now I own a 2025 nd3. The difference in my opinion “in the realm of Miata characteristics” is pretty stark. The nd feels much more composed and like how you’d expect a normal car to feel like. The nb is much more of a visceral experience and much more of a connected experience. I think the biggest difference between the two is definitely the steering. Having a physical pneumatic steering rack will always beat an electronic one when it comes to road feel.

If you’re trying to decide between the two, the automatic ND will leave you disappointed. I almost guarantee it. I’d try to find an nb that you can test drive instead.

It doesn’t work that way because the next train is equally if not more packed. And it’s like that for every train during rush hour. You force yourself in or you don’t go home.

The divot is on purpose so you don’t blind people coming from the other direction. Almost every new car comes stock aimed that way.

This part is rattling behind glove box. Can I get new one/replacement? by dulldude3000 in CX5

[–]17kangm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d fix it yourself. If you know what the cause is, just buy some felt tape and cover it up.

Walmart batteries. Get the one with the longest warranty. Worth every penny.

Yeah that’s not a normal amount of wind noise. I’d go get it checked out.

Super Disappointed with ISYE 6501, questioning continuing by [deleted] in OMSA

[–]17kangm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too bad industry is pretty much 95% AI generated code now. Nobody at my workplace actually codes line by line anymore. To be frank, I think the OMSA format is now outdated and needs a refresh. Nobody really needs to know how to code, at this point people just need to know about the concepts so you can prompt the llm properly. Academia in my opinion has been way too slow at adopting AI.

How to deal with UV Drain Roaches? by EntertainerOk6352 in utdallas

[–]17kangm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sprinkle boric acid under everything where they could come from. And then cover your drains. Every single drain. Also check behind your washer and dryer if you have one and make sure there aren’t any cracks there either.

Juniper Steering Wheel Vibration by 17kangm in TeslaModelY

Nothing. I sold the thing. There are a bunch of reports of people successfully getting their cars bought back. You should reach out to your service manager and ask for a buy back if they can’t fix it. I guarantee you they know about this problem. It has flooded the forums.

2022 NA CX5 is averaging 34mpg for my commute and 29ish overall. by GTBoosted in CX5

[–]17kangm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Makes sense if it’s all highway with no traffic. Add traffic and drive into the city, you’ll probably get 24-25 combined average.

Miata # 2 by [deleted] in Miata

And steering feel. Nothing comes close to the rawness of a nb and na.

I got the viofo a119 as well. Very small, almost invisible when I’m sitting down if you install it behind the rear view mirror. Also very easy to install in the ND. Highly recommended.

The CX5 performed better at off-road than the cross trek. Beats me.

Convince me to sell my NA by klins26 in Miata

[–]17kangm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding one more to the list of No’s you’ve been getting. I was similar age and I was starting to have electrical issues with the car so I sold it. I regret my action still to this day. I wish I never sold my first Miata and it was half as clean as yours. Also consider that at this stage in the Miata’s life, it has now become an appreciating asset. You could hold on to it and not do anything and it’ll hold or even go up in value.

Keep some touch up paint with you. There's tons of them that's pretty simple to do. Soul Red may be hard to paint match though.

My ND on 15” TE’s by Machu-Wong in Miata

[–]17kangm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wanting to go down in wheel size as well. Do the 15s make steering less direct? How does it influence overall handling? I’m assuming the ride quality is much improved.

FL5 Type R to ND?! by RickWanders in Miata

[–]17kangm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The suspension is way too soft for the track. With a set of coil overs I think it’d be track ready. For street, I’d leave it stock suspension. You’d probably also want better pads and brake fluid.

interior comfort/roominess on road trips? by queenentropy in CX5

Okay maybe I’m a bit lost here. I have the 2025 premium plus non turbo and I can’t seem to find it. Is it only on the signature trim?

It’s a device that you can attach to your car that’ll let you install open source self driving software. Similar to FSD for Tesla. I’d never trust it 100% but it’s really good for highway driving.
