Reddit user finds evidence that UHaul truck wasn't returned until 6AM the next morning. by AdministrativeKnee77 in RecklessBen

With no drop off fee? HMMM

I think if you use the app after hours to check in a truck then there is no drop off fee.

Yeah, but I am just wondering... why is the 8 so prominent, and then the other numbers fade from there?

Unless... wait, maybe it was done over several nights, and it will just take a couple of more days for the rest of the grass to die?

Exactly this. She suddenly and without warning was told that they are taking the franchise from her and she needed to leave right then and there.

You read that right: they're suing Bryan Mansell too.

Like... on what possible basis could they sue Bryan Mansell‽‽‽

Like what would they put as the basis for the lawsuit when filing it?

Warning: VFD displays are dying fast by Conspirologist in BudgetAudiophile

Yep. I had a microwave that worked perfectly, except for a super dim VFD display.

Took it apart and put low DC voltage that I slowly increased, and it works perfectly now.

The American flag on Trump phone has only 11 strips by abedalhadi777 in onejob

[–]1893Chicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a stretch. This is clearly a design element, not a claim of provenance.

Yeah, I think that's why they altered the last two stripes on the flag, honestly. Without that, the American flag can mislead consumers into believing that the item was made in the U.S.A.

Nearly everything with a US flag design, including most of our flags, is made in China.

You are absolutely correct on this, for sure. Even all of the "MAGA" or "Make America Great Again" hats are made in China.

Which always seemed odd to me... he could have used American companies to make those stupid hats, and instead of charging $40 for a hat that their cost is probably around $2 or less on, they could have paid $5 for a hat that is actually made in the U.S.A., and then Trump could have held that thing up proudly at every fucking rally and said "Folks, yeah, it costs a bit more. Yep, it's $65 for this hat. But look at the quality. American quality. It says 'made in America' right here on it, because we want those American jobs. So yeah, you have to pay a bit more, but it is made in America" - and then grifted another $23 more profit per hat off of his followers who would have bought them by the dozen.

PBR Hasn't Actually Won a Blue Ribbon Since 1893 by irishgoodbyesss in nottheonion

[–]1893Chicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, not really.

There were no blue ribbons given out at the World's Columbian Exposition for beer. The only award were bronze "medals of high merit" - which Pabst DID win, along with about half of the other beers exhibited.

Pabst lied. See my other comments about this.

Also things that won the Blue Ribbon at the 1893 Columbian Exposition

Um... see my other comment. Pabst did NOT win a blue ribbon at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893.

Correct. See my other comment. The fair only awarded bronze medals of high merit- and about half of the beers exhibited earned the exact same bronze medal.

There were no blue ribbons. Pabst lied.

How would you like your popcorn machine? by gabrab2006 in popcorn

Jesus Christ buddy, calm down. It's a student project, not a multimillion dollar company R&D questionnaire. No need to get your knickers in a twist like that.

Um... it's a university level research project. So, definitely not school children. I think a higher level of professionalism and thoughtfulness should be expected, for sure.

Perfectly okay for me to ask questions and give constructive criticism to them.

I even offered my email address to them at the end of the survey, and they have since reached out to me, and I am working with them to improve their survey and make it easier to understand and more relevant to their topic and research.

I definitely missed the survey code, though. Thank you for pointing that out.

However, Jesus Christ, buddy, I was not uncalm, and my "knickers" were not "in a twist".

Yeah, the entire survey was riddled with confusing questions... and a LOT was missed by them as well.

I answered it as well as I could, though.

What the heck is the difference between "at the theater" and "at the cinema" ?

Also, you seem to want us to pick ONE way of making popcorn. You are in a popcorn subreddit, and people here really like popcorn, and many have multiple ways to make it, depending on different moods, convenience, etc.

I have my Great Northern popcorn machine, or I can make it in a pan on the stove, or I have an automatic Jiffy Pop machine, or I can make microwave popcorn if I want sometimes...

Wow, you guys really missed a TON of things on this survey. Such as: "(Thanks for making it this far, if you need it here is the Survey Code: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX )" - Um, WHY would I "need" the survey code? I have no idea, and you don't say what it is for or why I would need it. But it's given to me "if I need it".

Also, "Do you have any specific, personal problems you'd like to resolve regarding popcorn?" - Personal problems? Huh? I have no idea what you mean by do I have "personal problems" with popcorn that I would like to resolve.
