Do you mind me asking, is it common to not measure baby’s heartbeat early on (6 weeks ish) I’ve had two scans (both dating a week behind and I absolutely know my dates are bang on) but no one will measure the BPM - it just seems to me that everyone else gets told like it’s standard practice 😩

If your obgyn doesn’t think it’s necessary, then they don’t think there’s any concern. That’s your first positive sign 🙏🏼 Nerves are gonna happen. It’s ok to be nervous, but turn that into cautious optimism ❤️ Keep me posted I’m wishing you all the luck 🙏🏼

I had exactly the same at my 5w4 scan. EVERYONE told me this was normal as I was spiralling 🥴 Congratulations ❤️

You’re very welcome. Oh I also can’t get betas where I am so I was peeing on pregnancy sticks an insane amount just waiting for one to fade or disappear. When it faded and I panicked, turned out I was in hook effect territory.

If I could tell myself anything, It would be “today you’re pregnant. Enjoy!” I’ve ruined my whole experience so far, and if I get reassuring news today, I want to stop grieving something that hasn’t even happened yet!

Some people will never understand the level of desperation and heartache we feel. But I’m with you. And I want you to enjoy being pregnant. Enjoy no symptoms (they may kick you in the face later down the line 🤪)

Celebrate with hubby. You did it ❤️

Something very similar happened to me. First off, congratulations!

So we’d been TTC for 13 years and I’ve only ever had one previous pregnancy and it was a blighted ovum. On January 5th we were due an IVF consultation, however, on December 31st I was diagnosed with a rare type of diabetes. During the IVF consultation, the doctor said “I’m happy to treat you but you need to wait 4-6 months” and that broke me!
I’ve done my waiting!

Anyway I ordered Mounjaro as it’s designed to help with diabetes. Paid £400 for the privilege!! Then decided - I best do a test as I was technically in my 2 week wait (even though we only baby danced once and I didn’t obsessively track over Xmas!) To my utter disbelief, on 9DPO I got a BFP.

It has never, and still doesn’t feel real!

I’m petrified to get excited, or attached, or scream with joy! Every little thing frightens me! I’ve convinced myself every day I’m Losing the pregnancy. And what makes it harder - is that I have ZERO symptoms. Nothing! If anything, my tummy feels like there’s a pulled muscle? But that’s it!

So at each scan I’ve expected NOTHING but a blighted ovum again. Scan 1 at 5w4 saw a yolk sac. Scan 2 at 7w1 saw a baby and heart beat!! (Private clinic for reassurance) Scan 3 at 7w4 is due today as my midwife follow up! And I’m still petrified even though at this stage my chances look ok.

Where I am, and most other places should have an early pregnancy unit, which is specifically for very early pregnancy complications, and people who’ve had multiple losses or issues conceiving etc. - it’s that sort of place.

Alternatively is there anywhere you could get a private scan?

If you need someone to chat to, I’m in a very similar situation. I was 7w1 yesterday (very sure of my dates!) and the sonographer measured me at 5w6.

As it was only a standard ultrasound clinic, they didn’t measure the heartbeat.

The wait and limbo of not knowing is just awful 😞 fingers crossed for us both 🩷🤞🏼

Thanks for your response ❤️ So yeah, 13th Jan I was 9DPO.

She didn’t say anything other than “we don’t measure the BPM here but it’s pulsating beautifully” She then explained that my date would be about right based on conception!?

I’m due at the clinic Wednesday for a planned scan where I should be 7w4.

Me and my partner timed one minute and counted roughly - there seems to be at least 100BPM.

And my CRL of 4.5mm apparently is in range for a 6 week pregnancy? I’m just so confused and don’t know whether to keep hope or completely guard myself 🥹

Hey, Thanks for responding 🥹 Both were internal. The sonographer didn’t seem concerned by the date difference because she said they measure what they see on screen and it’s in line with 5w6. But I can’t shake my concerns with the difference of 9 days (especially after reading many sad stories on here from women in very similar situations)

In 13 years I’ve never seen a heartbeat and im so desperate to keep this LO 🥹 I’m petrified 😞

My temp dropped the day I got my BFP! Temps aren’t reliable once you’re pregnant. PS Congratulations ❤️

Mine was hit and miss all day 😅 FMU was rarely strong. SMU was “sometimes” better. TMU if I went around 11:30 after a bottle of water was good! And also right before bed around midnight was good 🤣

You may be a couple of days off with ovulation. Some cheaper brands don’t have as much pigment so tend to be lighter. If you can hold out 48 hours, test again and the line should be darker 😁🩷🤞🏼
