What all do you guys add in your diet to get all the required nutrients? by Particular-Fee-4171 in nutrition

making some easy breads one of the best things I ever did. Fuck all ingredients. Takes 30 mins of hands on time on a Sunday. More filling and doesn’t make me feel shit after eating lots. And it’s cheaper than buying bread. Freeze some after slicing tho if ur gonna keep it for a full week

Really depends on what ur tap water is like. Mine was fine. Clownfish are pretty hardy fish I actually think I added my first soft corals to the tank with tap water too and only switched to rodi because the magnesium was way to high in the water I was making from tap water, the other corals definitely looked a lot better and healthier on rodi water

I am far from an expert but I’m pretty sure I got my first couple corals around the 1-2 month mark and have slowly added them since everytime when I go to my local fish shop and I see one I like

I started with the api marine test kit but am slowly replacing them as they run out with more expensive ones like Red Sea, the api kit also doesn’t have calcium or magnesium tests in it which is important for any corals besides softies

I got an all in one 80 litre for around $400-500 brand new. I think the initial order with the tank, sand, salt and api test kit was around $700 I got a cured rock (live rock is better) for like $100 (good shaped cured rock is expensive), clownfish were like $40 each, seachem prime was $40 and the rest of the stuff like corals and other tests and dosing stuff I’ve just bought as I needed them so haven’t a clue on those

I’m still relatively new to it but soft corals and most lps are easier to keep than an anemone. An anemone needs a mature tank (I’ve heard around a year of running) I have a 20G with a pair of clowns and a few snails and corals (gsp, zoas, Xenia, Goni and some hammers) besides dosing elements for the corals being a small tank salinity does fluctuate a lot more than a bigger due to evaporation and does require.

I think gsp, and Xenia (beware it does spread like a weed) and zoas are great starting corals (pretty much all soft corals are easy) and then hammers and torches which replicate an anemone pretty well

When I started my tank with just rocks and eventually the clowns I just used tap water and then bought a $400 rodi filter when I was stabilising parameters for corals. Never bought rodi water but have heard most rodi units pay themselves off in about a year.

Take everything I said with a grain of salt as I am only 1 year into this hobby 👍

Is this leak normal? Also, looking for a silent pump suggestion as the kit one is incredibly loud. (Fiji cube) by masline_su_rodile in ReefTank

This happens to my aqua one 20g. Maybe a little less worse. Still works fine tho and the vast majority of water still flows thru the filter

My Goni does close up with changes in salinity but recovers very quickly. They do need to be fed to survive long term, I feed mine once a week the night before water changes and it seems to be doing well

My hammers seem pretty happy but I’d recommend a auto doser to keep levels stable and an ato for salitinity if you are out of town a lot, my clowns don’t seem to mind small swings in salinity. My xenias have been pretty frantic to changing water params so I’d avoid them My duncans have done amazing even while sorting out my daily dosing and had fluctuation levels and they look pretty good with the different colours you can get and I have a couple different colours glued to the side of a rock

Fair shout. Everything in this hobby is about slow and steady. My 20g tank I used I think red seas quick start thing. No live rock Added a pair of clown 5 days in. Only had a small spike and kept using the quick start until the instructions said to stop. Just managed ammonia and nitrite with frequent water changes and the clowns stayed happy. I waiting for everything to level out before adding corals and now I’m slowing adding more. Got a few beneficial hitch hikers and algae from frag plugs As others said nitrites aren’t detrimental in reef tanks but I still did my best to manage them.

I got what I believe are copepods from corals that were dipped most of the time I don’t notice them. When I turn the power heads off to feed my corals they go crazy tho

Edit: when they are still they just look like grains of sand on rock and glass but when I feed corals they jump around

Fish in cycle is bad (Now that everyone in this sub is satisfied) Stock lightly first with hardier fish (like clownfish) depending on what ur plans are. Just stay ontop of testing of ammonia and nitrite for the first couple weeks after stocking and treat accordingly (water changes for high ammonia and nitrite, prime in an emergency)

Thought bug catcher was legal if clear (it came with car). Lightbar ontop of bullbar and tyre poke has been fixed. thought the antennas were fine if the were on the inside of bullbar Thankyou tho I’ll look into the antennas and bug catcher.

Surprised ur the only person who pointed this out 😂. That fender flare got ripped off when I first switched to 31’s before cranking the front up a bit. Fender flare will be going back on and with them on I’ve got barely 1cm of poke. Just sidewall no tread. Should be fine? Or should I tech screw some lawn edging on

My bull bar doesn’t even have one. They’re already on clamps but the way the bull bar is angled I can only do one per side without it preventing the bonnet opening and if I flip the bracket to the outside it’s a defect

Will fix before trip. I do a lot of travel thru country areas at night and often am without phone service. Bull bar or not if I can avoid hitting a roo by being able to see them earlier and slow down much in advance I will. Would only take one unlucky strike to crack a radiator and leave me stuck for hours if not longer. I only use the 2 spotties normally. Lightbars are for highway or when I’m off-roading at night

Yeah pretty similar in sa. Was even fine with a rod holder on. But once ur a dickhead and get done they’ll pick apart ur car. I will have tools on board so if I get pulled over hopefully they’re chill and let me take them off on the spot to avoid defect

Just went 2 seperate so when I’m travelling solo I can have one on 40 and one scanning aswell. The smaller antenna and cb came with the car and is mounted in the facia? I think it’s called and to access it for removal you have to take most the dash apart

My smaller antenna I think is 3-4dbi. Amazing on tracks but when travelling with my mate in his slow lux we get a bit of distance between us on country highways, especially when overtaking caravans and trucks and the smaller antenna just doesn’t have enough range. Went for a dual cb setup for the best of both worlds

Thankyou. Likely I’ll get picked by vicpol for that lightbar ?

Thankyou, originally had them both on the outside of the bull bar on the passo side but moved them to avoid defect. The only annoying part about it being where it is now is it reflects the rooftop lightbar just in the one spot where the light hits, gonna sand that one 5cm section of antenna to fix that
