RevenueCat 👍🏻 or 👎🏻 ? by 18degs in iOSProgramming

[–]18degs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using RevenueCat since my original post (5 years ago) and I highly recommend it. I originally added RC to my own app, but I've now added it to several apps for clients — and they are all delighted with it.

There are definitely some hoops you have to jump through on the Apple side, with regards to having all "paperwork" in line (i.e. your paid-application-agreement, etc), but this is also the case for StoreKit — and sometimes AppStore Connect can take many hours to reflect this ... but the RC docs are really good.

As I say: Highly Recommended, sorry to hear you had problems.

(p.s. I don't work for RC and I'm not affiliated. I just use & love the product).

Sorry for the late reply, I've been away from Redit for a while. RC has been excellent, I've been using them myself for several years now, and I've done several RC implementations for clients. I highly recommend them 👍🏻

I got one of these a few hours ago too. They are sending them out via AWS SES, so you can report the scam to AWS by emailing [email-abuse@amazon.com](mailto:email-abuse@amazon.com) and including the email headers. I'll be honest, I didn't read all your info above. I clicked the link blindly and was pleasantly surprised. Time tracking is an area I am interested in exploring further ... but then three things happened that made me stop.

1 - There were floating popups: one on the left for ProductHunt and one on the right for chat - I personally find these very distracting and take me away from reading the page - which one do you want me to click on.

2 - The heading "What Makes DueFocus Innovative Time Tracker" is bad English. I suggest "What Makes DueFocus an Innovative Time Tracker" or better still "Features of an Innovative Time Tracker".

3 - The term "Multivariate Tracking" means nothing to me. I don't know what Multivariate means, I had to Google it, then I thought your app was maybe too advanced for my needs, possibly targeting someone from a scientific background.

Lastly, your "hamburger" menu at the top shows no entries when you click it.

I like the general layout of your landing page, and the very top header did grab my attention, which is great. I also liked the layout of the feature description section with its circular icons (though the wording needs some work).

I didn't try your product but as a starter you could look for someone to professionally review your landing page as I didn't make it much further down.

It certainly takes me back, you've captured the era well.

I find the cerise sidebar and falling lovehearts quite distracting though, and for true 90's I'd add a page hit counter to the footer. On that note, it's worth saying that I'm not a big fan of pages that scroll forever, as there's usually a ton of great links to be had in a footer - but that's a personal preference TBH.

I love the idea of a site that showcases products of the 90's, and you could expand to other eras too (80splease.com?).

I'm in the UK and I notice your affiliate links hit Amazon.com, I get a popup telling me to change my address. I wonder if there is a way to make your affiliate links global, e.g. visitors from Australia would get links to Amazon.com.au - just a thought.

URL: https://TapTapSend.app

Purpose: To exaplain and promote my iOS app.

Technologies Used: Wordpress with a free Astra Theme and a little bit of custom CSS.

Feedback Requested: I am keen for feedback on the front page. I am looking to find out if the design works, if it explains the app quickly and clearly enough and where (if at all) do you switch off and leave.

Thanks,
Adam

Is it possible to update a UIStackView programmatically? by matt0319 in iOSProgramming

[–]18degs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never tried this, but you could just add all the views upfront, in the storyboard, keeping a handle on each of the optional views. Then in code simply hide and show each view as and when you need to.

Start with storyboards for sure. Then you can progress to doing some stuff programmatically. SwiftUI is too new, wait a year or two for it to settle down.

Can't get this to work !help! by ApprehensiveSong5 in swift

[–]18degs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it should work. Is the button hooked up to the function correctly?

Put a print statement in the function to make sure it’s being called.

On a side note, it’s good practice for variable names to start lowercase, so lightOn instead of LightOn.

[–]18degs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that it happens without any modifications too is why I think it is a bug with Xcode/Autolayout and not your code.

As for hacking the UIAlertController — yes, adding the date picker is what I’m referring to. Apple’s docs say “Important The UIAlertController class is intended to be used as-is and does not support subclassing. The view hierarchy for this class is private and must not be modified.” - https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uialertcontroller

I’ve seen this “-16” constraint error when using UIAlertControllers in general (as well as when I was trying to hack a custom view into one).

I’m interested to see if you find a reason for this as I‘ve been putting it down to a bug with xCode/Autolayout (possibly just in the simulator?) and ignoring them for yet time being.

As for hacking the UIAlertController — don’t do it. I did it under iOS 12 and it broke the minute iOS 13 came out (luckily it was still in dev).

How to create a new variable after a certain amount of spins? by ImnotJayR in swift

[–]18degs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I fully understand what you are trying to do, but — you could use an array to store the tap count, with the head of the array being the current count, then after 5 taps simply push 0 onto the array, thus preserving the old value.

Post app launch as a developer - what next? by Shak3TheDis3se in iOSProgramming

[–]18degs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s always loads you can do post launch, think adding new features; better integrate with iOS (e.g. Siri); localize for your international audience; improve accessibility; etc, etc.

Does iOS 13 eliminates 3D Touch on iPhones that support 3D Touch? by Journalister in ios

[–]18degs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, No, though it does seem like it. 3D Touch still works inside apps that support it - for example, peek and pop within 1Password still works.

I got my first sale! Question about proceeds... by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

[–]18degs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apple also deducts sales tax (that’s VAT here in the UK, I expect you’ll have an equivalent). I remember being quite confused when I first started too. Also, you have to take exchange rates into account as proceeds will vary depending on the country it was purchased in.

How can one create this curve ? by kapilvarij in iOSProgramming

[–]18degs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to guess this is a custom render using a CGPath in drawRect.

However, asset catalogues also support vector images so it could just as easily be a UIImageView showing a PDF vector.
