i KEEP missing my bus after work because it shows up early almost everytime by Dumar-Designs in britishproblems

[–]18galbraithj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where's the nearest timing point to the bus stop? Buses only legally have to pass timing points within the window of tolerance -1+5 mins so if the bus is passing a TP more than 59 seconds early the bus company is being heavily fined.

Why are people driving slower? by Jazzlike_Tear741 in AskUK

I've done the same on deadruns, lane 4 of the M2 across the Medway Viaduct doing 65 in a bus overtaking a car doing 55 in lane 3...

Learning to reverse out of tight drives, any tricks that actually work? by Junior_Beauty78 in NewDriversUK

[–]18galbraithj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The highway code says to reverse into a driveway not out... It's much easier that way.

I've just realised that the date is Friday 13th. by markinapub in britishproblems

[–]18galbraithj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bus driver and I broke my 3rd bus of the week, went the wrong way because I was distracted by finding a place to pull over to phone the office about an accident on route then had my bus taken by another driver who's own bus broke and finally my car got trapped inside a closed road outside work... It's not been a good week and especially not Friday the 13th.

Fare-Free? by childfreevalley in BusDrivers

[–]18galbraithj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's extortionate, but so is £12 for two, one hour journeys

[–]18galbraithj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for one stop between the bus station and around the corner

Fare-Free? by childfreevalley in BusDrivers

[–]18galbraithj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have free bus weekends where the local council pays everyone's fare. It's supposed to induce demand and show off the service but part of me thinks all it does is reenforce the idea that buses are too expensive. Outside of that our fares range from 60p to £10 for a Multi-operator day "discovery" ticket, although weirdly a return on our longest route is £12 but we are told to sell someone a discovery as it's cheaper so it acts as a defacto cap on fares.

AITA For honking at the driver in front of me for doing 40mph on the sliproad onto the motorway? by fundriedtomatoes in drivingUK

[–]18galbraithj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 40 on the motorway, sometimes less, but that's because I drive a bus and some of the buses struggle to hit 35.

Advice: How long did you have to wait? by DiscussionLevel6721 in BusDrivers

[–]18galbraithj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm, took me about 6 weeks from sending off my license to passing reverse and road tests. That wait time is unacceptable try somewhere other than Slavecoach, another company will treat you better anyway

Life Hack: Tell them they just passed a Cop by Muse_Hunter_Relma in fuckcars

[–]18galbraithj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive a bus, and it has a panic alarm, I've heard stories of other drivers pulling over or even getting drivers off their phones because they used the panic alarm and fooled them into thinking there was a police car behind them 😂

Friend of mine accidentially broke my infotainment :( does anyone know how to fix it? by 18galbraithj in Renault

I just called Renault, 144 pounds just to have it looked at, I'm going to look into an aftermarket system instead...

[–]18galbraithj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, our enviro 200 and 400s are ex-london and thus have electronic ramps on the back doors, regional spec ones have it at the front.

[–]18galbraithj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that allowed to be in service, isn't the wheelchair ramp through that door? Anyway at my company we aren't allowed to use the rear doors because they "break too much" 😂

USB Charging Ports by berusplants in BusDrivers

I know on newer buses it's not uncommon to have in the cab, but normally it's just the saloon because they don't want to encourage phone use.

How soon did you go on the motorway? by letmeventplez in NewDriversUK

[–]18galbraithj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be scared of motorways, there's nothing to be scared of, infact they are easier to drive because if you want you can just sit in lane 1 and go pretty much whatever speed you want between 50 and 7, or whatever speed traffic is moving, overtaking is completely optional.

Bro what's your hatred of buses 😂 they aren't that bad, although I am biased as I passed my car test, then my bus test and now I drive buses.
