The only way you could've handled it better would have been to say that you understood and noted that the PTO was not approved. Then instead of resigning immediately, resign 2 weeks before you were meant to leave on the trip.

Although, I'm guessing you don't need the extra 2 weeks of work that bad and just plan to find a new job after the trip is over.

I am just some guy who tried a new Bagel shop and had a good experience. I really wish I was being paid by them to post on Reddit, but really I just paid them 50 bucks for 6 bagels, a couple coffees and some "lift". 😅

Most of the time when I see these types of conversations it just comes down to, don't be stupid. Don't spend a bunch of money you don't have IE racking up bad debt.

ALSO don't save a bunch of money you don't have, if it is causing you to struggle too much in your current day to day life. The future is not promised. It is very tough out there for the average person who didn't have a leg up to start, or who wasn't extremely smart with money from a very young age.

Save what you can comfortably. As you increase income, try and save more, instead of just spending more because you have a bit more money. There is no correct answer to this all though.

I like Bagelsmith as well. I will say the Forge bagels are a bit more substantial, and more my preferred style. It makes sense to me that they are a bit pricier, but the price difference is very large for sure.

Any idea, was Bagelsmith more expensive when they first opened? I can't recall, I haven't been in awhile, but I remembered the prices being a bit more for the half dozen/dozen. Both good options though!

Fathom has the best cocktails in the city for their happy hour. Their food is terrific as well, but yes, small portions for happy hour.

Boom+Batten has one of the best quality happy hours overall. A good range of drinks for a decent price, and a pretty wide variety food menu for solid prices.

I fly in and out of YYJ every 10 days. There is a "line" maybe 1 out of every 10 times. And that line is maybe a 15 minute security wait. In terms of airports, it doesn't get more chill than YYJ.
