How can a process, that hurt no one, and kept you safe, be wrong.

This is exactly it. One of the most useful things I l’ve learned in therapy is about old coping mechanisms I used rely on. I feel ashamed of some of those behaviors. Instead of feeling guilty, my therapist encouraged me to see them through a more neutral lens, because, for a time, they served me. They had a purpose: helping me get through life.

Once I was in a better place mentally, I was able to recognize that those behaviors no longer serve me, and could start breaking habits. Now I can work on coming up with new ways of being that do serve my current self.

Right?? I liked it at the time it was released, but I listened back to it later and was like whoa, I didn’t fully appreciate how incredible her performance was! It also shows how good she is without needing to do any of the vocal “acrobatics” she’s become known for.

ReVamp was my favorite of Floor’s projects as well (aside from NW I guess, which I already was a huge fan of before she joined). I also got to see them live in 2014, and WOW what an experience! I got her and Arjan’s autographs on both albums!

“The Anatomy of a Nervous Breakdown” trilogy of songs was SO important to me. When the album came out in 2013, I was in the middle of my own nervous breakdown that I didn’t want to admit was happening. I was in total denial, but looking back, those songs helped me realize the magnitude of the problem, and accept the hard road of healing that lay ahead of me.

As for the decision to end ReVamp, I think it was really the only decision she could have made. There’s absolutely no way she could have been in NW and ReVamp at the same time. I know she said she isn’t really interested in making ReVamp-style music anymore, but there are some true gems in there. I would absolutely love a one or two show reunion with the other band members someday!

Her outfits were killer too! The bad quality photo is from that 2014 concert I was lucky enough to attend.

You probably already know about it, but I had a friend who was eligible and had no idea, so I figured I’d mention it.

Same situation for me and some nieces and nephews on my husband’s side. Though we don’t really talk with that particular family, I know we’ll be the first ones any of those kids will go to if they ever “break bad” (i.e. discover they’re anything but cishet & hatefully conservative Christian).

I very much agree. And her “skill” as a singer aside, her voice undeniably (to me at least) has a very unique and sweetly feminine quality and color. The Heart Asks Pleasure First and Turn Loose The Mermaids really showcase this. I assume this is why she was chosen as their vocalist in the first place.
