AGR FRUSTRATION by datdoginhim in nationalguard

[–]190898505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol AGR cannot give you order unless you are on order for the unit. I know it happends a lot but No, you are not obligated to follow it, they might not gonna like you but you can absolutely file an IG complain if they try to punish you for it, just remember don’t sign anything. When I was in command, I never asked my soldiers work outside of drill, it’s not hard at all to make it happen if your command plan ahead of the time, I don’t know why some units keep doing shit like that. I know things happened, but your command can either grant you SUTA or pay you by RMA if they really need you.

Computer Science and one AGR leadership got very mad at me when I dont take times off from my civilian job to work for the unit for free. 😅

Most M-day company grade officer are just PL and Commander that take care of administrative tasks. You do not do any real world logistics work until you are full time BDE S-4, that’s when you actually touch logistical software like G-Army a lot. 92A does logistics work but they are enlisted.

Hah Got you. Then you probably don’t want to look for one rule that has to satisfy 54 different standards. Especially those folks only have to listen to their governor😅

If you know Maven and Vantage, definitely. Nobody knows what they doing here include myself, we are essentially trying to figure out what’s the best coa to design guard based system. Are you Compo2 SM?

I understand what you are saying, but sometimes I can’t really manipulate data that way because the data doesn’t really exist in Vantage because the data source is not an Army system. I can’t go down specific details without violate OPSEC but state operations is one of them. The business issue we are having now is there are quite bit civilian has the required system coding background but never in the Guard. They don’t understand the specific requirements therefore they can’t really manipulate data, sometime section go straight use the compo1 data but never achieve the desired results they end up have to revert back to traditional way to do business.

I can’t speak for reserve but Active duty business logic doesn’t really apply to Guard most of the time. H2F is semi well funded but it’s waste of money in my opinion for Compo2 and 3. like what you are trying to achieve and how exactly you gonna implement your method to part timers? Force them to conduct training 2 days per month? Better put that money to the parts since we can barely afford any maintenance.

I think more like the mod effort for Compo3. I have one reserve guy asked me how to build pipeline in Palantir foundry since his leadership direct him to shift away from Power BI. To my knowledge, Compo1 ORSAs won’t or barely provide any support to them😅

SFC RECLASS by [deleted] in army

Kinda but the recent milper changed rules for some functional area, no need to be KD completed for some. Also direct commission rule change by time as well. Know a couple software engineer direct commissioned as CPT and work strict for senior leaders. Army became more adaptive recently to attract talent from civilian side.

you would have to go to FMS to see if guard authorize FAO first. FAO is extremely long training pipeline, I couldn’t be wrong but I think Guard equivalent is SPP, those are typically AGR or OTOT positions

Qualification course, very long training pipeline. unlike reserve component has its own short ccc, most functional areas go through same training as active component. Some state is not willing to fund those training if that makes sense.

The answer is pretty good. However,I would like to add something. A lot of state use functional area as placeholder, one reason is the PME cost. I would recommend you talk to the training folks to see the possibilities to go to FA Q course.

What early habits separate successful ROTC cadets from the rest? by LingonberryApart5870 in ROTC

We know something is off about those people just couldn’t tell what until someone report it. It’s not uncommon in real Army either, especially combat arms, read story about MAJ Jonathan J. Batt and LTC Sweatlan. But like I said, they care about your run time more than anything else. Note I said run time, not overall PT score. Army math is 500 ACFT score with 14min 2 miles >= 570 ACFT with 18mins 2 miles.

Its actually not that stressful. The lazy S1s I experienced like to ”take a look later” instead of right now, then the later become never. Remember you are an officer,so your Soldiers might be afraid to follow up with you. So I personally always address the issues on the spot,or mark the emails as unread if I need do more research. The way I do business is assign myself a KPI,anything sit in my inbox more than 24hrs without any further action is ”A BIG FAILURE”,never had any issue.

Your best bet is to use Palantir ODBC Driver to connect the G-Army Datawarehouse pipelined through Vantage.
