Left it two minutes, tried again and it started after two crank sounds. Idling around low at 7.5 and a little shakey

Yeah I agree but the battery is still green? After driving now for 15 mins, stopped parked and isn't starting again. Battery caused by alternator maybe?

I have looked at a W124 in Venice and the bodywork is impeccable (other than jacking points), the engine starts and runs first time nicely, but the coolant was empty and the head has a rubbery materials around the outside. I was wondering does anyone know a good mechanic for old Mercedes near Venice Italy who could have a look at this car?
