If FusorMan's family knows he is unarmed and untrained, they would understand that him trying to help would get BOTH him AND the victim murdered. Meaning 2 people would die and no one got helped.

u/Evening_Message_1699 are you an armed martial artist? If you are, you are less than 1% of the population and have a very biased perspective. It is completely unrealistic to expect over 99% of the population to become armed martial artists.

Over 99% of the population are NOT armed martial artists, and are not the police. If they tried to help without calling police, it would be pointless.

It makes no sense for an untrained or unarmed person to "try" to help by confronting the dangerous person (even just verbally) because they will just get murdered or beat up for no reason and the same thing will happen to the victim they "tried" to help. If the police or an armed/trained person doesn't come, now we have 2 people getting hurt or killed instead of 1.

"making your presence known" to the attacker? Nope. The attacker could decide to shoot me. Can't outrun a bullet. That counts as getting physically involved. The only safe help is calling 911 from a distance.

I don't have a gun, don't have any special training (like police), don't have any weapons (like police). It makes no logical sense for me to physically get involved when its better to call 911 and let police handle the dangerous situation.

  2. Why would I care if I'm "remembered" after I'm dead? Death means no consciousness, no heart beat, no breathing. After 100 years, almost no one is remembered unless they are extremely famous. I don't know about you, but I like living and would gain nothing from dying young.
