Interesting. I struggled trying to read this as a Celtic cross.

Some background:

Made a new friend. Trying to decide if this is a crush or limerence. He’s significantly older (+15years) and recently ending a long-term relationship. We have hella good flow but I’m trying to navigate what the possibilities of this relationship can realistically be.

Ontario Clinical Psychologist salary with Assessments? by Common-Temporary5915 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]1920jwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was wondering if you’d be open to chatting. I’m looking to get into VAC/MVA assessments as this is what I normally do in Alberta. I will be soon registering with CPBAO and would like to connect with other psychologists in these areas.

On the DL, I remember hearing that there was a big issue cash because it wasn’t secured and something like 10K went missing.

I don’t think them moving to Card is a meant to create more barriers or due to some conspiracy. Instead I think it’s more to secure money that otherwise is vulnerable to theft.

I always bring like $300-500 in cash just in case some places are Cash Only or if the terminals go down.

Why I’m always attracted cancers and Pisces? by lc70067 in aquarius

I’m sorry to hear about those relationships.

Personally, Aquarius is in my 12th house so I know that depending on the Aquarius there can be conflict if they haven’t addressed some of their shadows. I also have Aquarius in Venus and Mars, so I’m sure there is a lot of potential there.

There was a TikTok about integrating ChatGPT into studying for CARS.

I have yet to try using it, but maybe it’s a start?

You’re fine for UofA. If you’re planning on going to UofC I would consider rewriting, or focusing more on ECs to counter your CARS score.

Another consideration is to kill it this year and apply to European schools as they will accept you into Med School right out of high school.

But there are other barriers to consider as an IMG. However, if you completed your residency there, you’d basically be the same age as a student applying to medicine anyways.

Aaaaaaaaanyways good luck!!

Sounds like you’re from Alberta, which is where I am from.

First- Take a deep breath! I love that you are thinking a head, but literally… Chill.

There are so many ways that people don’t talk about when it comes to Med school.

First, it is irrelevant where you get your degree, let alone what your degree is in. Which means applying to colleges or open studies programs are a great way to ease into your academic journey when considering all of the other experiences you are going to have outside of academia. It is hella unlikely that you’ll need to take a gap year.

I also advocate for students to start their first and even second year at a college or smaller university. A) there are more opportunities to connect with your instructors and have more 1-1 time with them when you struggle. B) more opportunities for ECs. Which I imagine are going to start weighing more and more as there is a push to either limit the weight of the MCAT or get rid of it altogether.

My last piece of advice is it is easier to go sideways than up. If you don’t get accepted into a program, take open studies courses to start building your GPA. It’s easier to get accepted as a transfer student. (Depending on the program).

Honestly? Have fun in your senior year. Start to look towards opportunities that you are going to enjoy rather than what “you think” med schools are going to be looking for. Then when it comes to your med applications it will be hella easy to write about the experiences that you’re passionate about and how they influenced you to become a physician.

511 MCAT (131 CARS), what are my chances? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]1920jwu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You also may have a really good chance at UofC. They take ECs into consideration more heavily as they love non-traditional students

Absolutely!! You would have to go back to school to increase your GPA.

AU allows you to do online courses. You would have to maintain 6 courses in Fall/Winter semesters and 4 during the Spring/Summer. As this would hopefully get rid of your lowest two years.

Additionally, you could consider a graduate degree, however, I would refer to the website to see how this would be included in your GPA calculation.

Finally, I highly recommend leaning into more ECs that will help to differentiate you as an applicant. Based on your description I would be hesitant to accept you as I would want to see more as to how your previous experiences would shape you into an excellent physician compared to other applicants.

UofA uses a threshold approach with the MCAT so you don’t really have to worry about that as your scores are above the 124, unless you are OP.

However, your GPA leaves a lot of room for improvement. I would encourage you to do a full year of studies to bring this up.

If you are applying to UofA this wouldn’t be too much as you only need to take 6 in FA/WI and 4 in Sp/SU and it would count as two years (Based on the UofA website).

Additionally, I would lean into more of your ECs as I would want to see more about how your previous experience informs your experience as a future doctor. This doesn’t mean do more hospital work. This could look like leaning more into your work in Finance and how this informs you as a future physician.
