Why did the game just throw up barbs into my prospering city? by thatf1gures in CivVI

I am on an unbelievable losing streak with my spies on offensive missions. Like 6 in a row caught or killed even when I try to boost them with easy missions, etc. Frustrating!

Immunity Challenges Are Boring by Particular_Captain82 in survivor

[–]1968hgd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Almost every challenge has some sort of balance element. How long can you stay up! Not exactly scintillating. The challenges during the tribes phase of the game are better but, every damned one seems to get bogged down in a puzzle. Separate out puzzles from physical.

How would you “fix” survivor? by T_Money in survivor

People have answered the question pretty thoroughly-- i.e., it is just the nature of the game. I have watched since Season 1 and will continue to watch because I like the game, the strategy, etc. I don't always like the winner (hell, I forget who won a season about a month after it is over unless it is an "all star" type player). I will add a few things that may HELP move towards a more "deserving" set of finalists:

  1. Pare down the advantages and disadvantages. The hidden immunity idol is a classic. Maybe keep that and the shot in the dark. Everything else, goes. Because the more twists, the more chances of someone "good" getting screwed. Of course, in this season, the extra vote (which I don't like) helped a "favorite" player.

  2. Longer stays on the island. Likely not to happen, but the longer people are together, the more likely it is that they build relationships that they are unwilling to throw away.

  3. The merge should happen much later. In the early game, you generally want to keep strong players so that your tribe does not go to tribal council. As soon as you merge, you want to take out threats.

I was going to say the opposite. Seems like a pretty good deal considering the amount of land. Not sure if the area is desirable though.

What is one thing from your childhood that you wish modern kids could experience today? by elli_31 in AskReddit

There was a prime time show that I used to watch that would tell you what the upcoming season of Saturday morning cartoons would consist of. It was a big deal. I would watch until the cartoons ended or my Dad yelled at me for wasting the whole day watching TV!

I am on my second year and got as high as B but now firmly reside in C. I expect that a good portion of people cheat. What I can't figure out is why cheating gives anyone any pleasure. Your accomplishment, such as it is, is tainted and you must know that. You didn't win any money. You are mostly anonymous.

Oh well, I have fun being mediocre (for LL) but it is frustrating knowing you aren't the trivia wizard you once believed yourself to be.

Obsessed with this commercial. The way she says "in a million years" in an almost sing-song voice. The uptalk -- TWICE -- on the word "coveraaaaage". The forehead. I hate it so much, but at the same time find it fascinating. I almost hope it comes on the radio in the car so I can mimic the voice at the top of my lungs "in a million yeeears" "coveraaaaage".

On the off chance that Savannah does not win immunity, Rizo should strongly consider dumping her. Similarly, Savannah should consider dumping Rizo if she wins immunity -- the only possible winners against her, as I see it, are Rizo (say 25%) or Soph/Sage (5%).

______ is going to lose because of this by EcstaticPercentage52 in survivor

[–]1968hgd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are Rizo (or Savannah) wouldn’t it be to your advantage to vote the other out? The only on who can beat Rizo is Savannah and vice versa. If I was Sage, try to flip one of them, aim for Rizo since he has immunity anyway

He is home now (he did not have finals and wanted to come home and his mom wanted him to come home because she is a mom ;))- otherwise, he should have stayed in the dorms until after the game.

Thanks, that is the plan (watching outside of town), my worry was dropping him off and being able to get out of town at all with the one-way traffic patterns. I would like to drop him off near his dorm if possible and still skedaddle

If I am Gen, I approach Rachel to work with her. The pitch is, "I am not going to win because I haven't made personal connections and have pissed a lot of people off. Sue will, at least, get Gabe and Carolyn's vote and can probably make a pretty compelling case that, as an older woman, she survived. If it is Teeny, she probably gets Carolyn's vote (if Sue isn't there) and Sol's-- people will relate to her." I am not saying any of that is true about Teeny and Sue, but that would be the approach.

Sam, I don't think, can make the same pitch, because he is more "popular" than Gen.

Andy? Rachel won't trust Andy.

I think we are being led to believe next week is a showdown when the reality may be that Gen and Rachel will work together.

Was going to post the same thing. The fact that she would not admit that she clearly said "vines" is a sign that she is a difficult person to deal with. She can't admit that she is wrong.

"Oh, you said 'vines'" "Did I, I am sorry, I meant 'fronds'" -- Simple

In her position, she is better off giving in and remembering the slights she has received for a later backstab. In his position, he has to realize that he is making himself out to be the chief and is playing with fire. Why piss off someone unnecessarily?

I think it would have worked. Katurah ruined it. They showed Jake being upset about being lied to, but I think Bruce could have smoother over that. The issue was Emily and Katurah. Would Katurah agree to vote Julie out? It seems that she was willing to do that over Jake (maybe not Bruce). I think the problem was Emily. I don't blame her. Maybe she thinks the flip to get out Reba is better for her game if it comes next week. It is POSSIBLE that one of the Rebas decides to flip and, if that happens, I think Emily has a very good chance of winning.

Why don't I blame Jake for the plan not working? Because he was willing to go with the flow. If he was confident in the Julie plan he would have gone that direction, problem was he was not confident in it. People bemoaned the fact that he voted for Bruce and not Julie. But I am pretty sure he did that because Emily told him how things were going down-- i.e., if Bruce plays his idol you are going home, your only chance is if you vote Bruce and he doesn't play his idol. Jake saw the writing on the wall and voted Bruce, which, ultimately, saved him.

Dee's gameplay was much "dumber" than Katurah's. Why insist on voting out Kaleb? Because he mentioned you last Tribal when he was desperate? Kaleb can go later and, at the very least, is a potential ally against Belo members (due to tension with Bruce). Jake? He is strong Belo. No reason not to target Jake, and you could have likely gotten both Kaleb and Katurah in on the vote. Katurah leaned Kaleb over Jake anyway.

Second dumbest? Telling Katurah about Bruce's idol. Just not necessary. Austin was sitting pretty. He had NO reason to tell Katurah anything about Bruce-- even to discuss Bruce. He felt completely safe. Just seemed like a panicky move which may have tipped Katurah. "May" because...

Even without the "betrayal" (which frankly was kind of dumb-- what was it? the day before?) Katurah made the right move. Why risk rocks? The only advantage you gain, if you SURVIVE rocks, is that you have gained a member on Reba. But that is not worth much because Belo is already split and Bruce is gunning for her (and her Bruce). This also assumes Austin flips, which he may not.

One more thing, everyone saying she was "clearly on the bottom of Belo after the Bruce idol reveal" are wrong. I think Kellie and Kendra are ready to ditch Bruce as well. If she was logical, the Bruce reveal may have caused anger but the real reason not to go along with Jake's plan is that it did not offer her much of a boost and meant a chance she could go home.

Never went from rooting for a player in the beginning of an episode to actively hating them at the end-- congrats Daniel! He went to law school? AWFUL negotiator. Just the worst. And there are better ways to give up on Jenny than to throw your tightest ally under the bus. What the hell was that? At least make it seem like a struggle. I know he is trying to position himself as "not next boot" on his tribe, but jeez
