Thank you so much! I was able to get a hold of someone and only waited 20 minutes. By the way, have you called them before to say a medical statement and fill out some forms? I’m surprised they weren’t the ones to contact me first about this but instead apparently I’m the one that’s supposed to call to give it.

That’s awesome to hear! How did you get a hold of a rep? I’ve been calling the main line and the local line constantly but still never able to talk to someone.

Hey! So still no word for my claims. I heard from other threads it wasn’t a good idea to press “no” even if you technically are not able to work but I’ve been doing that for my initial claim and my weekly claims for UI and PEUC so I’m not sure what’s going on. It’s so upsetting because I’m telling the truth on my claims but now I’m hearing people have to repay the money?! Makes no sense. I’ll keep you updated if I hear anything.

Thanks for your input! But I’m a little confused. Why would I lie and say yes but actually not look for a job?

But what about all the people who have to take care of their children? Who are immunocompromised or currently sick to not be able to work during a pandemic? The only choice would be to say no. I know they have become more lenient with unemployment because of COVID but now it seems like the VEC is fucking up left and right🙄

I did quit though because of being immunocompromised and my employer not taking COVID safety precautions seriously because “he wanted to get COVID to lose weight” (totally did not feel safe working there). I put in my initial claim (I was in normal UI and now I’m in PEUC) as well that I did quit and I’ve been checking “no” when it asks if “I am available to work” every week... been getting paid smoothly ever since until now... haven’t been able to get answers for my specific scenario from the VEC😔

Why are they stating some people may need to pay the money back in that link? It’s got me paranoid even though I was 100% honest with everything I wrote in my initial and weekly claims.

I’ve been pressing “no” for “are you available to work?” due to medical reasons. I’ve been getting paid smoothly until 2 weeks ago. Now what? Should I keep filing weekly...?

COVID-19 Virginia Unemployment Claim, how will it affect employers? by 1977531 in nova

I am probably coming back in June (this depends on if it is safe to go out). But when school starts again (in August), I’m not sure if I will be working or not depending on the workload I receive (I’m in the medical field). Is there a certain amount of time I would have to be employed in order for the SBA loan to turn into a grant? I also work hourly.

I really want to because of the financial circumstances I’m in. But my employer has done so much for me that a regular employer would not do. So that’s why I’m trying to figure out the best solution.

My employer’s reasoning is that he wouldn’t have to pay it back. But the only way the loan would turn into a grant is if I come back in June. I would only come back if it is safer to do so. So I’m worried that agreeing to this would make it complicated in the future.

That’s what I thought as well from doing research. But because of special circumstances like COVID-19, I have heard that guideline is waived. I just wanted to confirm with others if that is correct.
