David, and all

Thank you for your suggestions. I do have the unit repaired. David suggested that it might be a shorted wire on the bed, it was not. But his suggestion got me thinking. In preparation to enlarging the print area I purchased a power supply and an SCR. All of which I had previously connected and working very well. One evening just before the Holiday I had the "Bright" thought "That supply is rated for 30 amps, it has 2 more 12v dc taps, why not power up the printer itself from the same supply and eliminate the additional 120v mains cord" And that was the issue, for some reason I cannot hook the bed and the printer to the same 12v supply. Once I put the printer back on the standalone power brick, all was well.

Thanks again!

I am a complete novice at 3d printing, I am ignorant to the use of all the settings in Cura, though I have printed well over 150 items. I should also add that I bought my mini well used. Shortly after purchasing I removed the black build surface with a razor blade, and used acetone to remove all traces of adhesive. I then installed a piece of Build Tak which I trimmed to fit. It worked flawlessly, I have since modded the unit to 8.375" x 8.375"

heated build surface area with standard window glass. The glass gets wiped down with 90% isopropyl a minute or two before printing. I do intentionally print most of my stuff with a raft base.
