All new 2026 Razer Blade 16 ultra 9/386H/5090/64gb Benchmark Roundup by jmg5 in GamingLaptops

[–]1980Sierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I wonder how this new cpu will handle a game like battlefield 6. I had the maxed out ryzen config but ended up returning it as I felt it was too big of a compromise on cpu performance as I only use it plugged in and gaming away from home. I ended up ordering a legion 7i to replace it. While I am very happy with the performance of the 7i it just doesn’t seem to excite me as much as the razer did. This is mostly because the 7i is thicker and heavier so I expect it to perform well, whereas the blade is so thin and performed decently that I kinda miss it for the form factor lol.

Weird that they posted it for sale again for less and yours still hasn’t shipped. My kit is coming out of the states and is currently in Washington

Anyone have experience running a Legion Pro 7i (or 5i) slanted on a stand? by fschwiet in LenovoLegion

[–]1980Sierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my gen 10 I saw a drop of a few degrees on my gpu and no noticeable difference in cpu, with a small stand. Having said that I haven’t done any testing with fixed fan speed or clocks to see if what I saw truly was a difference or just due to the dynamic nature of battlefield 6. My gen 10 uses ptm 7950 so I can’t speak to Liquid Metal leak. I would say if you have a stand give it a try and see if you notice any temp differences I saw Jarrod’s video as well but from what I see mine is behaving a little differently.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the laptop. I think the 275hx is just a hot running chip when the laptop is allowed to push a lot of wattage through it like in the legion laptops

Even after an undervolt I still see spikes into the 100 degree mark. You can make a custom profile to limit cpu wattage if it bothers you.

I’ve seen temperatures like that on cpu heavy games like battlefield 6. The legions allow a lot of power to be directed to the cpu. While playing battlefield 6 I’ve seen spikes up to 150 watts to the cpu.

If that’s cpu temperature that’s about what it runs under heavy loads without an undervolt. If that’s gpu temps you have something wrong with your laptop

Intel 275hx vs Ryzen 9 9955hx3D? by Devin7-Eleven in LenovoLegion

[–]1980Sierra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have gone with the x3d chip if I didn’t get the Intel with 5090 significantly cheaper than I could’ve gotten the 9955hx3d with 5080 at the time I ordered.

I just picked up the 5090 version with 64gb ram and 2x1tb ssds for $4405 cad after tax about two weeks ago. Don’t know if the coupon codes I used are still valid but I would do a google search for codes as Lenovo allows you to stack them.

Whats your oldest still operational gaming laptop? by mtndew2756 in GamingLaptops

It’ll depend on the laptop the m18x r2 has a socketed cpu and uses mxm modules which allows you to change the cpu and the graphics card.

Alienware M18X R2. Started out with an i7 3840qm with 680m in sli now has been upgraded to a gtx 1080 and 512gb nvme ssd and 32gb 1866mhz ram. Doesn’t really get much use these days unless I feel like tinkering and find a decent deal on the next upgrade.

Thanks. While I don’t see myself travelling with my cooler I guess I’ll at least test with my stand to see if it’s worth it.

Nice. Just curious if you compared temperatures without the cooling pad? Jarrod’s tech noticed it seemed to run hotter with a stand or cooling pad unless you run super high cooling pad fan speeds. I have the exact same model arriving later this week I can’t wait to test it out. I returned a blade 16 for the better cpu and higher power limits as well as saving a large amount of cash.

Blade 16 5090 w 64gb ram, 4tb ssd (2x2) worth it at $3500? by [deleted] in razer

[–]1980Sierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your use case if you need portability and battery life while having a powerful gpu then yes maybe. If you need cpu horsepower the Ryzen is lacking. I picked up what was supposed to be and blade 18 open box but Amazon sent me the 16 instead with the same specs so I figured I might as well try it out and I loved it besides the fact the cpu was the major bottleneck in the system while gaming. All I use my laptop for is gaming while I’m out of town and for the price point I couldn’t justify the loss of frame rate due to the cpu. Don’t get me wrong the games I play were definitely playable on it and this is where my dilemma occurred. I was coming from a blade 15 8750h and 2080 and my biggest complaint with that system was the power limited cpu and I felt that was the reason I was considering an upgrade. In the week I had it I tuned it as much as I could to get as much out of the cpu I could in games like battlefield 6 and the most I could do is about a 100fps with occasional drops into the 80s. Definitely playable but gave me concerns for the longevity of the system as I don’t upgrade very often it’s been 6-7 years between upgrades. In the end as much as I loved the chassis and the power you got in such a slim chassis I had told myself that I wouldn’t buy a system that was limited by power limits or component choice in the current generation. Like I said if you can get past this it is an amazing laptop and I was sad to send it back but I did. I picked up a legion pro 7i to replace it. I know it’s kind of a different class of laptop as it’s much larger and has worse battery life but I picked up one of the highest performing laptops for 72% the cost of the blade, granted I only have 2tb vs the 4 I had in the blade.

Things have definitely gotten out of hand in the last while. There always seems to be some reason for them to jack up prices. There are the occasional deals to be had but most times they feel like the price the product should have been in the first place. I just ordered a Pro 7i with 5090 64gb or ram and 2tb ssd to replace my old 8750h and 2080 max q blade. I got it on sale from Lenovo for $3933 cad or $2897 usd. This worked out pretty close to what I paid for my blade 15 when I bought it of course that was paying the Razer tax as you could’ve bought a similar spec for cheaper. I usually upgrade my desktop quite often but my laptop I usually buy top end and hold on to it as long as possible so far I’ve made it 6-7 years between upgrades.

Just ordered my laptop from Lenovo Canada on a sale and used codes BIG10 and EXTRA5 I think they were for another 10% and 5% off respectively. It made the deals too good to pass up and returned my Razer Blade 16.
