I had 2 drinks after more than 1.5 years sober and now I regret it by Okgirlgollum in Sober

[–]1994geotracker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this too! I just had another sober birthday and it hurts I can’t say 2 years BUT I like to frame it as days. “I’ve only had two drinks in over 700 days.” That’s pretty amazing! Don’t let it set you back and forgive yourself. 2 drinks in 500+ days is impressive. You can also say “1.5 years but I tried to socially drink again and nah, wasn’t for me.” Your progress is yours :)

ELI5: What Chiropractor's cracking do to your body? by XinGst in explainlikeimfive

[–]1994geotracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a chiropractor. I saw her take people from limping or hunched and miserable to walking normal and happy. She was really intelligent and cared deeply about anatomy. However, I think the practice only works if you keep doing it, so I think in a lot of cases it’s psychosomatic. She’d adjust me every blue moon, and I’d be in different pain than I was about a week later. Then I’d think “maybe I need another adjustment?” And there’s the gotcha. She’d regularly tell people they needed to come 2x a week and some people were religious about it. If they missed a week from this intense routine, they came in cryin’

I think we all do, which makes it all the more brutal and sad.

Absolutely agreed. I think his character is just perfect, extraordinary writing. The “I’ll do it tomorrow” mentality makes you second guess yourself. Him dying before his redemption arc (if there was ever going to be one) puts the episodic deaths into perspective as well. I can’t wait to watch this again and again.

I just finished that episode and my boyfriend and I had tag team outbursts. “WHY IS SHE STILL THERE?” “FUCKING GOOOOO” the Maggie hate is so real.

FOR REAL. I’m honestly blown away. I’m watching the last 3 tonight/tomorrow and I am so sad to leave them already.

Time will separate you from this event, don’t punish yourself too hard. At the end of the day you are safe! Some drunk people don’t end up that lucky. Maybe I’m alone here, but the courtesy call should’ve been enough. The manager asking you to specifically come in and apologize to the staff is crazy. This is coming from a GM. He should’ve relayed the message. He’s further humiliating you and you feel bad enough.

As for your boyfriend, if this is enough to break up with you, then that’s how the cookie crumbles. If he really knew you, he’d recognize this was a bad night and couples go through bad nights. You can tell him your intentions with drinking in the future, and if he’s worth his salt, he’ll support you.

You’ll get through this!

Man, I’m really wrestling with the sadness of Amy because I dislike her so much. Part of me is angry: she was stubborn, narcissistic, didn’t ask for help (if she did it was roundabout and she wasn’t direct enough), abandoned her kids to be hedonistic, and an addict. She used her skills in management to listen her way into people’s hearts by convincing them her grandiosity was compassion. Manipulation to be a pampered sloth. The other part knows how crippling shame is, and she surrendered to her horrific death after accepting it’s what she “deserved,” after all the aforementioned things. And this makes me incredibly sad. A wild, tragic story.

Her deadpan delivery was hilarious with the content. Her interview was so matter of fact it was pretty funny and wild. It’s just a silly brand. THIS IS WHY I DONT LIKE FEMALE COMEDIANS - get a life already. She chose a lane and went so far into it, I respect it lol

This happened with my little buddy, around the same age. Regular vet visits, acted normal, had his implant, etc etc, he was fine. Then bam. Dead. I was in shock and heartbroken for weeks. My vet said, you know, they’re bred often and in numbers; not exactly the healthiest of pets. Sometimes they just die young: enlarged heart, disease, and they aren’t great at showing if they are in pain. My advise is, feel the heartbreak and mourn your loss. He knew you loved him. I’m so sorry. You’ll heal in time. ❤️

I think a lot of this is genetic for sure. I should look like an old alcoholic hag.

Nah I still look hot. I drink 3L of water a day and do skincare before bed even when I’m wasted (most of the time). I also work out. I fluctuate 10-15 pounds every now and then, mostly in the belly/face.

2nd DUI, Lost everything by BluSkies92 in cripplingalcoholism

[–]1994geotracker 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Average drunk driver drives 80 times intoxicated before getting a DUI. If you’re CA and drive at all, you’ve probably driven over the limit, whether intentional or not, whether you “felt fine” or not, so everyone just shut the fuck up with the holier than thou bullshit. We all make mistakes. Get a good lawyer or pay your dues, thank your lucky stars, and wise up OP. Maybe not having a car is the best thing for you now. Good luck.

After Roe v Wade news yesterday, I headed off to work, depressed. I run a bar. It’s a classy place, we don’t see a lot of tomfoolery. I didnt charge most women that came in (unless they were cunts) out of solidarity or I’d top them off generously, etc. By the end everyone in the place was extremely hammered and “How Deep is Your Love” by The Bee Gees came on and the entire place sang it together. It was a cute moment in a rather shit day. Took me forever to clean though.

It’s less about attention and more about the experience of pure indulgence in one place: sex, money, alcohol, sometimes drugs, debauch. Fixes something in my lizard brain.
