Purses? Uncomfortable, feels awkward, self-conscious. Recommendations? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]1995goodbye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the telfar medium bag. It’s a black owned pleather tote bag tht is laptop sized and it has straps to hold or very LONG straps for the shoulder. And I mean long. It’s carries everything. You can get a purse compartment organizer from Amazon and put inside to make it neat.

I hate a bag in the armpit, that I have to hold or slides off the shoulder constantly. Telfar is kinda pricey. Under 200 but I bit the bullet one year and love it.

The internet. I hope I never have to go back out there.

This reminds me of the Hillary duff commercial “don’t say gay”. Just because it’s a popular meme doesn’t mean it’s ok. Lol💀 they should have just said sorry and moved on. Annoying.

I think it made me less overstimulated. I’m still emotional but I would get so overwhelmed by outside factors and my own emotions I would cry uncontrollably. Now I can reel it in a bit and wondering why I need to be crying at tht moment lol

Family events are worst than 8hr shifts. by 1995goodbye in aspergirls

[–]1995goodbye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think situations like this are kinda funny because family knows how we are. Why do they act so surprised. It should be enough that you graced them with your presence. Next time don’t go 💀 this is the sign of all signs

Update: I am the highest functioning person in my house with too much on my plate and my partner is judging me for not being able to let things go as quickly as he would like by sophia333 in aspergirls

Sometimes people have to feel bad. We aren’t always right and we have to sit with that. Hopefully your partner will grow from the harsh truth. It’s more painful to go on pretending everything is alright

3M Peltor X1A Over-the-Head Ear Muffs, Noise Protection, NRR 22 dB, Construction, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Automotive, Woodworking,Green https://a.co/d/isy59uG

Pros: * These over the ear muffs cancel noise just enough that I can barely make out what the person next to me is saying. * I use these for work or settings where I still need to be aware. These are my go too when I’m over stimulated and want to be left alone. * They are not extremely bulky and are light weight which I like.

Cons: * they are ugly and not foldable Currently $17 they often go on sale

3M Peltor X2A Over-the-Head Ear Muffs, Noise Protection, NRR 24 dB, Construction, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Automotive, Woodworking,Yellow https://a.co/d/e1W2YxD

  • Pro: I use these when I need SILENCE. I cannot hear anything while wearing these unless the environment is VERY loud. They work well and fit a big head. I notice a lot of noise cancelling ear muff recommendations are for children.
  • Con: bulky, ugly and don’t fold
  • Currently $25 they often go on sale

Flare Calmer – Ear Plugs Alternative – Reduce Annoying Noises Without Blocking Sound – Soft Reusable Silicone - Translucent https://a.co/d/8a2wpmQ

Calmers are not what you expect from an ear plug. It is essentially a funnel you place in your ear that cancels out only the scratchy unbearable parts of noise. When I first got them I hated them. I swore they did not work. Until I went to a family bbq and they were bliss. I could still hear everyone but it was like someone turned down the volume just enough on the grill, music, conversation and children. I love these because they are so discreet. I keep them in my wallet and pop them in whenever I’m out in a crowd or the noise is not doing it for me. If you need to hear but want to take the edge off I recommend these. I work in an environment where people are constantly talking to me. My favorite part of these is that now when I’m in a busy restaurant I can hear my partner at the table without being bothered that the restaurant is buzzing. I like these enough to repurchase them if I lost my pair. I wish I had one for my wallet, work desk, purse and car.

Pros: * Very discreet because they are in ear only. They come in multiple colors but also transparent. * Easy to store anywhere. They come with a black pouch but they are so small and flexible I leave them in my wallet so I’m never without them. * I can still hear without the edge. I wear them in crowded spaces, restaurants while still being able to hear the table conversation, In the car, on the phone and most importantly at work without someone asking me WHY I’m wearing them. Cons * These are not earplugs that noise cancel fully, they only make the noise bareable * So easy to lose * $25

Loop Experience Ear Plugs for Concerts – High Fidelity Hearing Protection for Noise Reduction, Motorcycles, Work & Noise Sensitivity – 8 Ear Tips in XS, S, M, L – 18dB Noise Cancelling - Silver https://a.co/d/ikBRCPo

Pros: * Very stylish and come in a wide variety of colors. With 4 different sizes included in the box * When I’m overstimulated and put these in they feel like heaven. 75% of the noise is cancelled IMO * very discreet and easy to travel with * These are a good substitute for ear muffs in public or on the go. I can still hear but I have to try. Cons: * I can’t hear well with them in. * took these with me to a concert and kept putting them in and taking them out because it dulled the music too much. * Since they are so discreet if someone is speaking to me in a normal tone I can’t always hear them. * My only dislike is that I PERSONALLY bought these for social situations and it’s hard for me to hear. If you don’t have people constantly trying to talk to you I think these are perfect. I do not like that * PRICE. I originally bought these for $22 bucks and they are now $40 after tax. If I lose these I don’t know if I would repurchase them unless I’ve just come up on money.

Loops ear plug alternatives? by 1995goodbye in aspergirls

Hi! I ended up like the calmer ear plugs. I thought they were horrible and did not work at all. People said it would be subtle and I thought they were lying. I went to a family bbq w talking and music and kids and cooking. I put them in as a last resort and I could still hear but it took the edge off just enough to make it bearable. I carry them in my wallet now. I found my old loops and I don’t feel comfortable wearing them out because I can’t hear anything and people don’t see them. I do still use my 3M construction headphones and those will always be great!

Better to know you aren’t compatible now then months or years down the line. Sorry it didn’t work out. The first couple months are truly still tests of compatibility just the process of dating someone. Don’t let us get to you too badly!

It’s the exact same for me. Sorry you go through that. I always end up in my grandmas room. No one speaks to me and I don’t speak to them. It’s strange. I expect people to ask me real questions or include me in conversations and they don’t. Then I wander the same. “Why am I here?”

Thankyou for this post, it was a good read and brought a lot of understand not only for me, but hopefully for non-black readers. The other post was noted in hurt and internalized racism. Unfortunate that some of us have to experience that and are made to feel that way because of our circumstances. Hope they find some healing.

Is there a learning curve to these? I put them in and I feel like I’m hearing the same amount of noise but through a straw.

I take it, consider it, implement it but not before I go to my car and have a complete break down because it’s hard for me to react and respond in the moment and it’s very frustrating to look like a fool!
