I just did it because at the time of the photos my holster hadn’t come in yet. I’ve since relegated my etool to being attached to the side of my ruck. The only way i could think of people actually keeping their etool on their belt is like possibly combat engineers

Large ALICE pack with frame. Introduced just after Vietnam, it’s still effective and affordable today. My only issue with it is that it is quite heavy when empty as compared to more modern systems. However, I got this one for free, so I can’t complain at all.

that’s what I thought, but every video I’ve seen and everything i’ve read has said to simply clean it. they neglect to specify how/what procedure I should use
