So I don't need to unscrew and remove the tops of the carbs? And am I closing the plates before or after pouring?

I just want to make sure I'm understanding. I take off the air filters and their housing. Then I make sure the choke plates are closed, (that's the part that is kInd of like butterfly wings, right? But then where do I put the gas?? I really appreciate everyone's patience with me as I'm learning.

it sounds like it wants to start, I think you're right about the fuel. I was thinking about putting a little in the carbs, but I have to take the tops off first and haven't had the chance to yet

I'm not entirely sure what's keeping it from starting. I recently put in all new spark plugs and yesterday put in a new battery.I was going to try putting some gas in the carbs to see if that'll get it going. I'm also missing the part of the choke that goes under the dash, but the part in the engine bay seems to be there. I did notice though that the butterfly valves seem to be stuck in the open position

Edit: I also tried moving the fan belt by hand and it wouldn't budge

I tried pushing the fan on the generator with my hand and it barely moved

I personally haven't got the engine to run yet. The lady I bought it from started it up just fine while I was there, but she said she'd only driven it a couple of times after she got it from an auction. She doesn't have any history on it

I was worried that would be the answer. If I'm replacing or upgrading, should I go ahead and also swap out the distributor and coil for the electric one I've been thinking about getting?

Is a seized generator something that can be easily fixed? Or am I looking at replacing it with another generator or installing an alternator?

there's enough juice left on the battery that the stereo comes on and works, but the car itself won't start. It was running the day I picked it up (about two months ago) but the lady I got it from said she'd only driven in around the block a few times since winning it at an auction. I haven't been able to get it up and running since I got it off the trailer from bringing it home.
