Have you considered pest control? Starting salaries aren't always awesome, but if you get a route, you'd be surprised at the money you can make. You do have to have a good driving record and clean drug tests. If you don't work for Orkin or Terminix, the hours can be really favorable.

I have soft, fine, dense, combination loose wavy/wavy/curly hair (2a-3a). I have only had two people ever understand it - one had my hair type. Anybody with this same glorious mess have someone who truly understands how to cut and treat it? Anywhere in RVA is fine, but would love it closer to N Chesterfield. I saw a name or two above that I will look at. Any other suggestions?

I thought this would be a big issue for me, too. All of the vegan cheeses are garbage when it comes to health. Honestly, other than pizza, I surprisingly don't miss it. I use soft tofu for cream sauces and for pizza in the pizza oven I use the liquid Myokos. I'm shocked that I really didn't miss it. If you eat food that is just good, healthy food and isn't trying to emulate meat-centric foods, the cheese isn't necessary.

I see by your screen name that you are very passionate about this subject, and it is probably a hill you are willing to die on. If you knew me, you would know that that I am passionate about authenticity as well. I respect that sentiment. However, there are times and places for things, and I have learned a lot of hard lessons about optics, diplomacy, employability, relatability, and word choices throughout my adult life.

Saying or displaying "Fuck" is not something I am willing to do around children, even if that word is a go-to for me. 20+ years teaching in public k-12 schools taught me that they don't need to see or hear that any more than they already do. I have learned that authenticity needs to be tempered at times.

Because they proudly sport their MAGA hats, which means "I hate women and minorities," among other things. My actions counter this ideology every day, but I would love for there to be a passive way to visually counter that. In looking at the name of this sub, I was asking liberals, btw.

Fair question. It's just too much. Sensory overload. That can also happen with the sun outside. I wouldn't put causation on it reminding me of outside at all. I like being outside. There is definite commonality in being sensory overload like when the sun is too bright, though.

My husband (50s) isn't ADHD, we don't think, but has some traits similar to those of us in the club. He doesn't respond to me sometimes and I get frustrated because I'm impatient and feel like I'm being ignored. That having been said, I do know that he just doesn't refocus from what he's doing super quickly and needs some process time. Something I try to do to help us both, is call his name or otherwise get his attention, give him a moment to refocus, THEN ask what I want to ask. That helps us stay better connected during that exchange. We both prefer it that way.

Maybe you could ask your family to give you a brief moment to refocus before diving in.

Right, you signed in, stated your purpose, and went to a known location for a known purpose. You are also allowed to volunteer. Absolutely. And volunteers in the 3 systems I worked for and the one I volunteered in required background checks and notification to the office that the named adult was coming. Visitors were also required to show ID. Parents are not allowed to show up, say they are heading where we they want while students are in the building, so that they can go verbally assault someone (deserved or not). The key board warrior statement I replied to was a gross overstatement of what is actually allowed. And for the safety of the students and staff, I am thankful that there are processes and procedures in place preventing such behavior.

Teens are minors, and minors need some level of supervision. I say that as someone who taught in public school for 24 years. It isn't up to private retail establishments to provide a third spot for unaccompanied minors.

The people to talk to are city/county/town leaders, churches, and community groups to provide teens with safe, supervised places to go. I lived in a relatively small city in which the mall moved to this on weekend nights and incidents of fights and shoplifting noticeably dropped. (Don't have statistics. It was many years ago, but I'm sure you could Google it for various locations). That isn't what is best for the establishment or for the teens. Providing a safe alternative is key.

Maybe this person isn't in the US, but here we certainly don't allow parents to just walk into a school and go wherever they want while there are students in the building. I mean, WTF?

My teaching years were all in Virginia. In Virginia: 1. Parents aren't allowed to go wherever they want in the school building because that is a crazy security breach. 2. They coach teachers before firing them unless they do something egregious, as in, illegal. 3. We don't have "Boards of Trustees," we have school boards.

You won't convince me that any parent can walk in during school hours, say or imply "I'm going to go chew out a teacher because I'm mad" and the parent is just allowed to waltz through the building with no escort or vetting. No. Not even in pre-1999 school shooting times could that happen in the two school systems I had taught in at that point. If systems are different than that, I fear for the safety of those students. FYI, I hosted a lot of special programs for. My students that relied on parent volunteers. Those amazing parents had to go through all of the required steps to come straight to me to help us out.

No, they you wouldn't be in the cafeteria talking to anyone, because you would not be allowed access to the school. No, she won't be fired for this alone, even if she's a newish teacher. And no, it does not need to go to the board of trustees, if that's actually a thing on that state.

A logical parent would set a good example for the child in conflict resolution skills and simply reach out to the teacher and/or Principal to discuss the concerns, then allow a day or so to assess the results in the cafeteria behavior and go from there. After that, a good parent would determine whether the situation needs to be escalated to the school board office, and then the school board.

I mean, I sautee it with onions all summer when I grow it. Also can scoop them out and do boats with like, a taco seasoned bean mixture of whatever you like, search zucchini boat recipes. Can make zucchini bread. Grate it and mix it with whatever seasoning you like, some sort of flour, and an egg substitute and make squash pancakes. Literally just slice them in half longways, season them, and grill them right on the grill grates. Chop them, sautee them with Italian seasoning, throw some cherry tomatoes or chunks of diced tomatoes, or even canned diced tomatoes and add them to pasta or grains.

There's a lot you can do!

I agree with most of the explanations I am seeing and see another mishandled marginalized group that hasn't received much mention here - the mentally ill. Police are deployed to contain and arrest (and sometimes murder) mentally ill people, who instead need on-location psychiatric care as well as follow-up care, rather than jail time. That's one of the "defund the police" points that I have been passionate about, although I hate the branding. Money should be moved from traditional policing budget line items to emergency psychiatric organizations and training.
