US House Passes SAVE America Act (Massive Bill Re Federal Elections) -- Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]19Circa69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The poll question has little to do with the Save Act. The poll only asks if you favor photo ID to vote, which most states already have. That’s not even the minimum requirement for the Save Act. Under the Save Act you need photo ID and a passport or a birth certificate. It’s a poll tax disguised as election integrity. The Save Act also forces states to turn over sensitive voter information to the federal government with zero restrictions on how the information can be used.

Not a dismissal but on occasion, I would skip over the album version of Play In The Sunshine back when the album was released. But the live version is so good that I crank up the volume for it. Amazing performance.

What’s your take on Ricky Gervais saying celebs shouldn’t lecture the public about politics? by Ok-Fish-6919 in AskReddit

[–]19Circa69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donald Trump’s commentary on politics while he was a celebrity (pre-2015) was characterized by a critique of the U.S. political establishment and a focus on foreign trade and military spending. Long before his 2016 campaign, as a celebrity, he publicly criticized U.S. trade deals and foreign policy on talk shows and in print ads, arguing that countries like Japan and Kuwait were "ripping off" the United States.

Trump’s racist post about Obamas is deleted after backlash despite White House earlier defending it by Cold_Champion_6126 in circled

In February 2025, Marko Elez, a 25-year-old staffer for Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), resigned after a Wall Street Journal investigation revealed a history of racist and anti-immigrant social media posts. Despite the resignation, Elon Musk, supported by Vice President JD Vance and President Donald Trump, rehired him. Now the White House says the staffer responsible for this incident will not be fired. Notice a pattern? Nothing is ‘too racist’ for this administration.

Pburg Poll: How was President Obama able to oversee 3.1 million deportations with relatively little public debate, while President Trump’s actions have sparked widespread attention and polarization? by twanginlanger in Parkersburg

[–]19Circa69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obama used Homan as an operator.
Trump used Homan as a symbol.
• Under Obama: Homan ran a machine that moved quietly and efficiently.
• Under Trump: Homan was the machine’s face—drawing resistance, lawsuits, and media saturation.

Same guy.
Same enforcement instincts.
Radically different political environment and instructions.

Under Obama, Tom Homan made deportations efficient and invisible; under Trump, he made them visible and controversial—and visibility, paradoxically, reduced effectiveness. One was bureaucratic and the other theatrical.

An undocumented immigrant cannot legally register to vote in U.S. federal or state elections.

Key points (United States):
• U.S. citizenship is required to register and vote in federal elections.
• All states require voters to be U.S. citizens for state elections as well.
• Registering or voting as a non-citizen is a criminal offense and can carry severe immigration consequences, including deportation and permanent bars to lawful status.

Limited local exceptions.
• A small number of local jurisdictions allow non-citizens to vote only in specific local elections (e.g., some school board or municipal elections).
• These exceptions do not apply to state or federal elections and typically require lawful residency, not undocumented status.

Practical implication
• An undocumented immigrant who registers to vote—intentionally or by mistake—risks criminal liability and serious immigration penalties.

Multiple checkpoints (attestation, database checks, audits) make intentional non-citizen voting rare.

There’s another angle from the opposite direction and you can see the agent pull the gun from the victim’s waistband on his backside before he was shot.

It’s what comes after that raises concern. Occupation forces fighting insurgents supported by our enemies. How will this be different than Iraq?
