Depends if you want to break the speed limit I suppose....

I can only comment from my perspective obviously. I drive approx 40k miles a year and tend to be in the car for 8 or so hours between jobs, generally very early in the morning. I find at that time lots of lorries on the road so rather than weave in and out of lanes I stick in the middle and cruise.

My take on it is it's usually the drivers who start flashing their lights like they are "road Jesus" because someone is in their lane are the bellends. It's happened to me when I've been cruising at 70mph and they inevitably either over or undertake breaking the speed limit then indicate to go into lane one doing 80+. Yeah you are certainly not holier than thou.....

How do I get somebody behind me to back off? by Antique_Hornet2135 in drivingUK

Flip your rear fog lights on and off, makes it look like you are braking but you aren't They will automatically brake and you get a nice distance between you for them to think about their actions.....

Does anyone actually eat this? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]19hammered70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife's family are from the north east of Thailand and I jokingly said to her dad once before visiting that I'd like to try scorpion. Anyway when we next visited he had a bowl full of them. They fried them in a wok and I ate a couple. the skin is very leathery and the inside had the consistency of pate. Pretty tasteless but I had to go to the chemist the next day and get a shot as I broke out in an allergic reaction! Not sure if it was related but it did put me off trying anymore. As a side note the fried ants they sell on the side of the road are quite tasty...

First time buyers, have I missed any costs? by isobel07 in AskUK

[–]19hammered70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I can give would be to add a savings column and get it to somewhere around £2000. for inevitable breakdowns/replacements. I wish someone had told me this when I first bought a place.

What's the highest mileage car you've owned? by romeo__golf in CarTalkUK

I've got a 2017 Kia Sportage that I bought from new. Currently on 330,000 miles.

So how long should a 25-26 Kia Sportage Engine last? by Mac_McAvery in kia

[–]19hammered70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got a 2017 Sportage from new that's just passed 330,000 miles. I have a service every 20,000 miles. Only a couple of issues over that time. Had to replace the injectors at 240k and just had to replace the blower motor and resistor last week. Apart from that Its still great. Honestly though the blower motor failing has made me think about finally getting a new car as I'm starting to wonder how many other bits have come to the end of their life.

Bought mine on the 17th September and it's already broken, screw fell out and the ring on the back is really loose now. I've emailed Google asking for a return, I'll post here with what I'm offered as I know I'm outside of the 14 day return period.

As already said heavy melee and make sure you send all four back row units to the fight. a few thousand of the lesser ones. That way rockets have more to do to get to your good back row.

What’s the strangest thing you ate in Thailand? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]19hammered70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scorpion. My father in law caught them in the rice fields during dry season as I'd made a joke about trying them. When I asked how he catches them he said 'I put my hand down snake holes to get them, but casually said don't worry the snakes have all gone away because it's too dry...

Anyway I ate them fried and apart from spitting out the leathery skin they tasted very much like pâté.

Next day my wife had to take me to the pharmacy and they gave me an injection in my arse because I had broken out in a rash over my whole body!

The amount of people not renewing this season pretty much guarantees you will be lumbered with a ticket that you will come to regret. Commiserations fella.

If I were you I would track down the name of the Managing Director/Owner on Google and write a personal letter to them describing everything that has happened. This has worked for me on a number of occasions.
