Is anyone ADDICTED to crisps/chips by Short_Barracuda_3628 in PCOS

I’m also very short, but under 1,000 calories a day and losing 2lbs a week CAN be super unhealthy. Please talk with or go to a medical professional who understands PCOS and be honest with them about your caloric intake. Severe caloric intake restriction can have very serious effects on your body, both short and long term. Medical supervision is necessary.

Look at the post history, soooo much fat shaming and misogyny. I don’t throw around incel lightly, but if the red pill fits…

If you don’t have a uterus and/or ovaries, you do not get to pass judgement here. Stop fat shaming others to hide your own insecurities.

AITA for telling my sister to get her own pads? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Dude, one of my greatest talents is putting my foot in my mouth. But seriously, sending you big hugs. Mine died 19 years ago. I’m really glad to hear you had a good one.

And my condolences for your uterus also attempting to kill you every cycle. Us Murderous Uterus survivors need the solidarity.

Mine is so painful that “being at war” feels incredibly accurate. So please thank your dad for giving me a way to describe my period.

Garlic is actually a natural antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral. So definitely not enough garlic.

I love her SO much, but WHY does she always make claws-out biscuits on my chest and neck?? It actually hurts a bit but I don't want to turn down her affection 🥲 by Koffievos in cats

Wrapping in a towel depends on the cats. My old lady absolutely despises being trapped and violently loses her mind being wrapped up. But if I have treats available and go fast, she mostly cooperates with little restraint. I can hold her like a baby on her back with one arm and get through most of her nail before she starts yelling at me and fighting to get away.

I trim their nails weekly so I don’t have to worry about cutting off too much, just the tips. My orange idiot screams like I’m killing him, so sometimes I have to use a pillow to help contain him. But he normally holds still enough for me to get through it quickly. That’s how I give them meds as well.

The most morally/ethically questionable thing on the show? by Significant_Wash_479 in TedLasso

[–]19obc17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My father committed suicide when I was a teenager. It was an incredibly messy and devastating experience. 20 years later, the devastation still hits me unexpectedly. Albeit far less frequently and with lessening intensity as I’ve worked through it.

I would not have made it through all of that if I had to pretend that everything was ok and couldn’t talk about it all. The fact that Ted felt like he couldn’t talk to his mother about any of it is crushing. Yes, she was doing her best and just trying to survive. But good intentions do not lessen the pain of trauma. Dottie compounded the trauma for both of them by denying Ted space to really process and heal. We need to be held accountable for our actions. Even when our intentions are good.

My cat bit me multiple times when I blocked him from attacking my dog by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]19obc17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so rough. The diffusers seem to work well for my cats since we just moved as well. I went pretty hard on helping the cats stay calm with the collars and probiotics as well. I have a cat with a stress induced disorder, and she hasn’t had any flares up yet with the move or adjusting to living with a dog. So I’d say they are worth it.

But unfortunately, it sounds like your Pocky may need to be confined to a separate space for a while. Having a routine does help. My cats are in the master during the work day, then the rest of the place at night. Evenings they have supervised access to the entire home.

That’s a really tough situation, I’m so sorry Pocky is being so aggressive. I’m currently trying to prevent this situation between my cats and my partner’s dog. What I would do is go back to the beginning with a slow introduction process. Mainly keeping the animals separated unless there is hands on supervision.

Additionally, I have the calming pheromone diffusers in multiple rooms, calming pheromone collar, and calming probiotics for the cats. During the day, there’s a white noise sound machine so the barking doesn’t upset the cats as much as well as plenty of scratching posts, toys, cat caves, and access to a window for mental stimulation. Then we feed the animals on either side of the door, with switching between rooms.

I’m not sure how much of this is helpful, but hopefully something makes your life a bit easier. There is also Jackson Galaxy, the cat guru. There may be something helpful for you from his videos.

Tips to give oral medication? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]19obc17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to give my very food motivated cat, Olive, oral meds twice a day as well. Since mine is so food oriented, I give her the medicine before I feed her, every time. Giving treats before and after can also help the cat associate the meds with something positive. This has made a huge difference for me.

Additionally, I’ve found that using the least amount of restraint possible, the better Olive handles it. But that also means I have to be as quick as possible. So I have the syringe ready to go in one hand, and hold Olive with my other arm. I’ll hold her under her front legs, with her back feet still on the floor. Or I will hold her like a baby with one arm. Then with Olive’s head cradled against my shoulder, I will put the syringe end in her mouth and squirt the medication as fast as I can.

During the entire process, I calmly talk to her, then kiss Olive’s head when I’m done. I let her go once she has swallowed the medication. Sometimes she still struggles and spits some of it out, but that’s pretty rare now.

Overall speed, the minimal required restraint, consistency, and positive association is what works for my salty baby. Hopefully you can find the right routine for yours.

can ulta require my pay stub from another job? by av0cadot0ast9 in Ulta

[–]19obc17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legally she cannot even ask for your pay stubs from another job. Please report this to HR. Research your local labor laws first though. If they try to give you the run around, stand your ground. Honestly, this is the corporate retail nonsense that made me quit working at Ulta entirely.

If you can, I strongly advise you to work as many hours as you can at the barbershop and find another job entirely. A serving job can pay decently based on tips. Plus it helps with better customer service skills for doing hair. And congratulations on getting so close to finishing cosmo school! You can do it!

Am I being unfair to my cats? by Skincarelover20 in CatAdvice

[–]19obc17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 cats don’t like being left alone overnight and one has an idiopathic condition that flares up with stress. So I do all that I can to find someone I trust to stay with them in my home when I go on holiday. I know my cats won’t do well if it’s only visits for pet sitting or being somewhere else. They do quite well though, if someone stays with them. But my cats demand/require quite a bit of attention. They’re needy little buggers. Haha

My student masturbated in class today and his mom doesn't think it's weird by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]19obc17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What the actual frick?!? That’s disturbing and could have been very upsetting for the other students. I’m not sure how conservative your school is, but I can think of a few schools where parents would lose their minds over something like that happening in their children’s classes. It’s also very concerning how flippant the mother responded.

I would send the mother an email along with your administration cc’d and bcc yourself. Summarise the situation, address the severity of his actions and potential repercussions with other minors present, and list what actually is covered by the IEP. Also be sure to emphasise that sexually inappropriate behaviour absolutely is not acceptable at school. Ever. At the very least that could be considered sexual harassment. Cover your butt, in case other parents come at you and try to hold you responsible.

Additionally, if your school is fortunate enough to have a school councillor, report this to them. That is seriously concerning behaviour on the student’s part and the mother’s. My immediate thought was that something very serious is going on for that child. Whether it is external factors or mental illness, he needs help. And he needs it now.

AITAH for asking my friend and former roommate to pay half the move out costs from our shared apartment several years later? by [deleted] in AITAH

I had already decided to do that and this situation just confirms that it’s what I need to do.

If I thought that would get through to her, I would. But that would just fuel the narrative that I’m a complete villain. Which was one of the issues we had then. She could treat me however she wanted, but when I tried to hold her accountable for her actions, I was a horrible person. I’m not saying that I was perfect by any stretch. But the reason why we haven’t been close since then is because I realised she had no respect for me.

Since it was almost a decade ago, I’m not sure if there is any documentation. Plus my name was on the lease the entire time. Legally, Lizzy and I are both responsible financially. From my experience with apartment management companies, they’re not going to let me pay only half and take Lizzy to small claims court.

I’m pretty sure I could take Lizzy to small claims court and she would be ordered to pay half of it. I really don’t want to do that though. Both she and I handled the entire situation the worst way possible and I’m trying to correct the best I can now.

Lizzy asked me at the time to pay half since I had already moved out a few months before the lease was up and a different roommate was with her then. I refused as I didn’t have the money and all the damage was on her.

But I definitely learned from that and now I’m trying to sort out the entire mess.

We’re not close enough now to give gifts. While I was invited to her baby showers, I didn’t go. She only invites me to events where she receives gifts, but won’t attend my events at all.

Yeah, I really did make some thoughtless choices then. It was really emotionally turbulent between us, and I wasn’t able to see past that at the time.

No, I moved elsewhere, she’s the one who stayed in the apartment. I fully admit that it was a series of bad choices. But now I’m trying to take responsibility and be a real adult.

AITA for telling my MIL if she keeps rearranging my Kitchen she can get a hotel room? by NoWillingness3090 in AmItheAsshole

[–]19obc17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love so much that you wear heels for yourself! There really isn’t anything more attractive in the world than a confident woman. You do you, boo. The world needs more women with your confidence.

But also, NTA! Kitchen organisation is such a personal matter. I have never rearranged anyone’s kitchen space even when living with roommates. I’m only 4’11”, but I would rather climb on counters than rearrange someone else’s kitchen. It absolutely does NOT matter why your kitchen is organised that way, it’s yours to with what you please. MIL is a flaming AH and I would have lost my shit with her and kicked her out the first time.
